I said nothing about only retro styled pixel art in the OP. You can post anything from ZX Spectrum style all the way up to modern pixel art. You can even post monochrome Tiger handheld level pixel art if you wish. Sky's the limit as long as it's both furry and pixel art.

I'm going to assume you're just throwing a general complaint into the wind. Unless someone claims to be doing a strict retro pixel style this attitude gets really obnoxious. It's art. You can freely tweak and explore art styles from retro games for fun and the aesthetic you like.

I prototyped with either making it an on rail or an isometric shooter. It was originally going to be turn based strategy game like Advance Wars, but I noticed that there weren't a lot of real time anthro games.
For the story? I had written several different types of synopsis, but it takes place in a scifi military setting where tension between two factions increases from not having complete power. You can either side with the coup or with the government, but it's unveiled that there are additional outside forces at play.
I want to get better with 3d more before I tackle stuff like it.
