你发的第二个链接里的discussion，自己看看论文作者是怎么说的呗
说白了这篇论文最大的目的是证明把代理藏在常见程序（比如网站）后面这么一个主意是可行的，却完全没有提到中国人已经大规模这么做了不知道多少年了。这还让人怎么评价？闭门造车已经是最好听的了。夸张一点说就好像2000年的美国人在一篇名叫《分体木叉：一种由两根木棒组成的餐具》里重新发明了筷子。这种东西要是被引我觉得对双方都是一种侮辱。

在我看来这就是能用Tor官方工具翻墙就不用别的工具的原因, 因为别的工具都相对来说潜在的不安全, Tor是专门搞匿名, 设计东西都是考虑匿名细节的.
其他翻墙工具真的就像你说的"能用就行", Tor首先是确保匿名没问题.
当然对普通人来说还有Tor官方工具可以让人免费翻墙的事情, 免费又安全, 缺点是不能豪车翻墙和出口有些时候被某些网站限制.
