Hello, /animu/'s BO here, I looked at the "differences between similar boards" page and read something that may give people the wrong idea about my board.

The parts I'm referring to are "and the posters are free to post as they please, regardless of if it has anything to do with anime or not" and "Seeks to be an anime-themed /b/".

I do actually intend for the board to be a place where you can discuss Japanese media such as anime or manga, our rules are simply not as strict of that as /a/, I allow what some may call "funposting" but that doesn't mean I'd allow threads without any purpose and which resemble spam such as what can be seen on /b/. So I'd say the current state of the board would much more resemble a board like /v/; a place where both formal discussion and lighthearted shitposting can be found.

The reason for this part being inaccurate may be because the board used to have a different owner who may have wanted it to have a different purpose but I have been the current BO for almost a year now. If you could change that part of the board description to something more fitting that would be very much appreciated.

/animu/ has more lax rules regarding posting quality and while meant to be a platform for discussion just like /a/, /animu/ also allows "funposting" or lighthearted shitposting as it could be called.

/a/ has a more elitist view on the type of discussion allowed on their board which can be observed from their hatred for "crossposters" (people who both post on /a/ and other boards) which is often used as a boogeyman in discussions had there and seeks to have a distinctive culture from all other boards, /animu/ on the other hand welcomes the general board culture seen on most of 8chan.

Certain type of threads that are highly frowned upon on /a/ like recommendation threads or picture dumps are allowed and threads/posts are less prone to being removed for being of supposed low quality.

As far as 8chan boards go, /fit/ is the best of the best. Although it is obviously by 8chan standards of conduct, almost all users actually want to help each other, and will be constructive in a sense instead of insulting immediately. They are more friendly to each other and more mature. There are often arguments but they actually have a point. The community's knowledge on fitness is overall very good, even though I doubt most of them have any actual experience with lifting, and just like to shitpost. Interesting posts come up, and interesting advice.

Moderation: 1/5

Ironically, /fit/ is one of the boards with least drama despite having almost no moderation. It's because the user base is so mature that we don't need to give a shit about moderation.

fun: 3/5

Most people don't come to /fit/ for fun but to learn something new and improve their lives. That being said there are also dank memes and I only really have fun posting on /fit/. It is the intellectual's version of fun.

User base: 4.5/5

The only thing keeping them from a perfect score is something I recognize as a result of mutually exclusive qualities regarding great boards. The few there are well versed, researched, and, generally speaking, still fun to discuss with. The only problem is how slow it is. It's a damn shame too because it was at a good speed only last year and whenever it would pop into the Top 25. Otherwise, they're a no bullshit and incredibly intelligent group of people.

Moderation: 5/5

Job made easy thanks to a slow post rate, but the presence of informative and useful stickies make the board look not only interesting, but educational.

fun: 4/5

It depends on if you have fun learning about the topic at hand. History is not only fun to learn, but useful as well. My bias towards history is showing here as I find almost all history intriguing to learn, but the board occasionally hosts movie nights and I believe made a showing at the 8chan Cup.

OC: 1/5

As far as imageboards go, I don't think /his/ has a community large enough to really warrant a distinguishable aesthetic that can result in many memes or other content. This shouldn't be seen a negative at all in regards to the quality of the board.

Overall: /his/ should be recognized as a triumph of the 8chan model. It's a user created board with a well versed user base and a generally loyal one at that. Other than its slow post rate, there is not much one can do to fault the people who browse there. If you can not only learn, but have fun while doing it, then you have someplace special. /his/ as of today is a model of a great imageboard community.

When those around you aren't willing to take a stand for what's right, sometimes you have to be the one to strike first.

As some of you may be aware, there's an issue involving /gamergatehq/'s board owner, and whether or not he may be an FBI informant. What is known are these things by his own admissions: he keeps files on those that post on his board, and that he's good with an FBI agent on a first name basis. He used this dossier as well as cross-referencing post histories made on his board with the information he gathered on these people and shared some or all of this information with an FBI agent. Couple this with the deal he made with Hotwheels in which he's allowed exceptional treatment in the form of extra pages in return for not fucking up his board, and we have a bit of a dilemma.

Hotwheels said that Acid's admission that he wasn't an informant was good enough here.

Now, I don't know the exact details of the situation. I've heard that he was swatted, and that it was a simple knock and questioning. I've also heard that there wasn't anything resembling a swatting called in, but tips regarding the BO trading some rather illicit information on another board. This is all irrelevant.

What is relevant is that HW just gave someone implicit permission to use a popular board regarding a controversial topic to combine personal information and posting history of users and report them to the FBI.

I don't know whether or not Hotwheels is apathetic or what's going on, but recently, he's been content to lead from the back and not address any sort of issues involving his user base or anything more than the technical end of the site. That's a thought, but I can't see those boards being of much interest to users outside of those dealing with those boards. If the larger boards that have meta boards do such a poor job of giving them exposure that people rely on >>>/dir/ to find them, that means that the people running those boards are terrible.
