One way to look at it is that all societies are fucked, more or less. The difference is whether a society is fucked actively, or not. For example, I wouldn't want to live in an Arab country, because they prosecute atheists, and other 'undesirables'. They also don't accept the evolution of species, or other scientific data. Thus, Arabs actively fuck up their society. Another example would be a soviet country. I wouldn't want to live there because they prosecute libertarians, ancoms, ancaps, and other 'undesirables'. Their socialist policies lead to famine. Thus, they actively fuck up their societies. Nazis as well.
On the other side of the equation you have the USA (or "the West"). The West allows all kinds of shit. You can be gay, atheist, Christian, flat-earther, furry; doesn't matter. You can smoke, or drink, or shoot heroin (technically illegal, but you get the idea). Thus, the West is fucked up, but not actively. People are shit, and they create shit societies.
I have been thinking about this for some time, and I have come to the conclusion that a free society (regardless of how fucked up it is) is better for people. In a free society I can be atheist, and libertarian, and gay, or Christian. Live and let live. Why do I care about fucking furries? Or heroin addicts? Sure, they are fucked up. But removing them requires a giant government machine that prosecutes and censors constantly.
