Does /cyber/ have an IRC room?

Also, what IRC rooms do you guys hang out in?

 No.42840

I hang out in Ludum Dare's IRC, they tend to get a decent amount of traffic.

If I were to take a wild guess I'd say that people here go to #/g/punk on Rizon.

I used to go there too. But it's a sort of circlejerk

 No.42842

>>42841

/g/punk isn't even a circlejerk. It's just a dozen people idling.

 No.42843

>>42842

Aren't all IRC essentially just a dozen people idling?

I tend to sit on Reddit's /r/techsupport IRC. I get a lot of satisfaction out of helping people, and sometimes interesting chats break out.

I try to join but it's empty?

 No.42849

Sadly as all small IRC communities do, it grew stagnant and they stopped making cyberpunk threads on 4/g/, which was the raison d'etre for the channel. Now it's just personal bullshit like every other IRC of less than 100 long-term users.

 No.42877

>>42849

There are exceptions to that rule, but it takes the cooperation of everyone to agree to not water down shit.

 No.42897

I go on the IRC chat of lainchan on freenode. There is a lot of people, but the conversation tend to go wild.

 No.43035

#cyberpunk on freenode.

Through the use of a bot they've been trying to consolidate all the various cyberpunk channels into that one. It's most bumping of any of them that I've seen. People will talk but you have to start the conversation.

 No.43079

>>43035

doesn't freenode block tor relays or force them to authenticate through this mechanism that reveals their IP as part of the protocol?

 No.43504

>>43079

yup just use a normal vpn and you should be good

 No.43505

>>43504

how is giving my IP to a VPN any better than giving it to freenode?

have you tried killing yourself? you should.

>Does /cyber/ have an IRC room?

No, and it never will, because there are too many skids and shazbot on effectively every Orwellian-led IRC network. Even the ironically named 'freenode' has a rage-inducing policy for ops.

>Also, what IRC rooms do you guys hang out in?

I used to use #lmaoayy and #ayylmao on Rizon, but they're just a ahannel named after a dead meme now, and it was never very good. I used to keep track of a bunch of Linux related channels on Freenode, like the Parabola channel, but they've always been garbage. People are trolled easily, feelings are hurt easily, and people get derezzed easily.

IRC is probably 90% NSA honeypots now. Use something encrypted, or at least p2p.

>>43623

Don't bump. Threads die for a reason.
