 No.280369 [Last 50 Posts]

I lost around 70 pounds last year, but I've regained it all now…

I feel like shit. I can't stop myself from eating. My life has become a real mess due to my insatiable appetite. I stopped epilating, stopped exercising because it was winter at the time and it was freezing, started masturbating excessively again, and now I'm back where I started; fat, lazy, and sick of it.

I think trying to eat healthy is what made me fat, since healthy meals cooked without oil taste like shit so I had to keep eating to satisfy myself. Last year I lost a lot of weight because I was cooking 1-portion meals every day and didn't have any leftovers, but I was somehow also able to resist eating the ingredients before I could cook them…

Does anybody have tips on how to get back into the dieting mindset?

Develop a healthy, balanced life before you try to develop a healthy, balanced diet.

If you've already done that i recommend running, working out and eating less calories than you're utilizing.

Don't know though, i don't have any advice on how NOT to eat a lot, just gotta have power of will i guess. Be present minded in everything you do, think of the positives and the negatives, the pros and the cons.

In the end, if it's what you really want then i think you'll do it. Might need to come to grips with the fact that you might like eating more than the idea of losing weight. So you'll just need to willpower it, nothing more.

Don't really know, hope you find out what to do anon.

Eat small portions of filling foods, which means lots of carbohydrates and fiber. Stuff like rice, pasta, bread. Unsaturated fat (liquid at room temp) isn't so bad for you, but avoid sugar at all costs.

Try replacing soda with black coffee. It has no sugar plus it raises your metabolism.

Honestly though, it's mostly a state of mind. You gotta accept that you're going to feel hungry and push through it. A lot easier said than done unfortunately.

ss.fitness is a pretty good site to start off with, if you want to read up on it.

lol

I don't eat sugar, or anything processed. Nor do I drink coffee. I drink tea from time to time without sugar. My diet is purely fruits, vegetables and carbs. The problem is I eat too much of it and I've gotten too lazy to cook, despite working in a restaurant. I see food and I just can't help myself. I blame the fact that the food I do eat isn't really all that tasty so if I can't satisfy my palate I feel the need to satisfy my belly, which means eating to the point where I feel like vomiting, and I actually did end up vomiting 3 days ago.

Problem is I'm never ever hungry, because I'm always eating…

Go a whole day without eating anything. If you can convince your brain to do it once then you can do it again and it will never get harder than the first day of eating nothing because you'll actually be eating food every day thereafter.

Learn how to cook healthy food that doesn't taste bad. Oil has lots of calories. Herbs and spices have no calories. You can make anything taste good without making it bad for you.

So I've decided to convert my desk into a standing desk. I always found sitting very uncomfortable, and getting up is a huge pain in the ass, so I'd rather just stay standing.

This way I can dance and play Overwatch at the same time. I can also do squats every time I die, or a handstand everytime I win.

It's only day one, and I already feel much better.

Keep the fruits and stuff packed away somewhere. Most people leave fruuits on their tables. But if you keep eating them I'd suggest putting them in a cupboard out of sight. I would also suggest giving yourself a rule before you open the cupboard or whatever. I.e. each time you want to open it you have to do 5 sets of 10-15 crunches. People are less likely to do something if they're access to it requires more effort, so if you make yourself have to go through effort you'll avoid doing it as often.

there are a few methods. these are what work for me and i'm currently 5 foot 8 inches and 125 lbs.

>lightly graze on food throughout the day. rather than eating a snack whenever your hungry or preparing three complete meals try eating light throughout the day. an apple here and some chips there and that should at least keep you from gaining weight.

>alternativly, only eat your breakfast lunch and dinner, when you feel hungry through the day drink something instead. i prefer water, some juice, or coffee with not a lot of sugar or cream.

just as a tip this is what is done to maintain my physic. in order to loose weight easily and fast, go on a water diet. it's not the healthiest thing to do, but just try for like 3 or 4 days to eat nothing and only drink water. so long as you dont chug it, you should loose a decent amount of weight.

lol, adorable. Most people would say hide the chips or chocolate or sweets, but in my case I need to hide the fruits…

>>280693

I feel like when people mention the metabolism thing they don't have a real understanding of what metabolism is. The metabolism is the rate at which one's body processes nutrients that he/she consumes, and it's determined by activity level, weight, and muscle mass, primarily. Genetics? No; the difference between someone who has a "genetically high metabolism" vs someone who claims they have a slow metabolism is 200 calories, max. That's 2 apples. Whether someone is fat or skinny is almost 100% down to activity level and appetite. Calories in, calories out.

So will the metabolism slow down if someone eats less? A little, yes, as their energy levels and thus their activity levels will naturally be pretty low when they're on a calorie deficit for a long period of time, which is why it's important to fuel on very nutrient-dense foods that'll give your body the energy it needs to get through the day.

Fasting by only drinking water is not recommended, at least not for more than 4 days, and that's really stretching it. I've done it before, it didn't help my weight very much. I may have lost 2 pounds or so (which I regained because fasting didn't teach me how to control myself around food), but at the cost of my skin (it started turning grey). It's much more important in the long term to develop healthy eating and exercise habits.

Also, people seem to misunderstand the idea of dieting when they bring up the metabolism thing, like they're scared that they won't be able to eat as much when they finally hit their weight goal. As much as I love eating, I'd rather live a life where I eat in moderation and manage to maintain a healthy weight than stuff myself every night like I have been doing for the last few months. Eating that much never gave me any joy, but I couldn't stop myself because… I honestly don't know. Perhaps I was trying to make myself forget about certain feelings I had at the time.

I'm the same with the fruit thing. I love bananas and pineapple, but eating to much does affect your belly, it gets a little bloated looking. Now I almost only eat grapes and the Chinese noodles that have literally no calories or carbs, and I cook them with maggi sauce that also have no calories or carbs.

I do get cold sometimes, but I'm almost to my ideal size. Now I just have to keep my butt in check so I don't get pancake ass

The only other thing I do regarding getting hungry is smoking a cigarette. This can get really out of hand, since it's a stimulant and might affect your sleep. But I don't really sleep that much anyways so I don't care, but I dont think others will take it so well.

First 2 pictures are from May of last year after going from 210 pounds to 140, and the other 3 are from a few minutes ago. I'm around 185-190 now.

Kind of gross, but let this be a reminder that one can easily fall off the wagon if they start getting lazy with their routine. It may start with something simple like letting your body hair grow out during the winter, or in my case a Christmas dinner's binge that somehow got me back into the horrible habit of endlessly stuffing myself. I wish I knew exactly what caused it. Although I kept telling myself that I'll start dieting again if I keep gaining, I never did. It was an endless cycle of mindless binging, and occasionally some rationalization like "I'M TOO THIN ANYWAY" or "NOBODY LOVES ME ANYWAY" or "IT'S OKAY I JUST WON'T EAT TOMORROW *the next day* I CAN'T STOP EATING SOMEBODY HELP ME".

I hate to say this, but it's possible that all that dieting is what made me go crazy and pig out for months. Even after reaching my weight goal, I actually continued to lose weight, as I slowly went from 140 to 135. One day shortly before Christmas I started getting really shaky, and I was speculating that at the time I was developing (or already had) diabetes. It was the day I took the test to become a certified food handler and I remember it vividly. I couldn't shut the fuck up during the entire class and kept blurting out answers like some autistic child, and during lunch time I made the teacher cry after telling her about the dangers of margarine after which she revealed she had been feeding margarine to her children. Once the test was over I called my father and told him that I'm insane and ravenous and ended up eating at 3 different restaurants within 2 hours, and I couldn't even taste the food from the first one. I had to drown my pho in some weird sauce that didn't even go with the dish (and I do mean DROWNED) before I could taste anything, and even then the taste was mild… My brain was a mess, my appetite was insatiable, and it was the most bizarre thing I've ever experienced in my life.

I do feel better though. The standing desk is helping quite a bit. I'll post updates on my situation as I get better at my life.

From 240 to 180 in about a year. Dunno the exact timeline and dunno what I did really. Just start preparing all your meals yourself and a combo of laziness meaning you'll only eat when hungry and the fact that making shit yourself is generally better, you'll drop that weight soon.

While I don't doubt it completely, this is exactly how I got fat the first time. I was always relatively chubby growing up because my father always forced me to finish everything on my plate despite my pleas that I was really full, and I strongly believe that this is what fucked up my relationship with food. During my high school years I just got into the habit of eating until I was ready to burst and did that every day, and that's how I got up to 210. After I lost the weight, I was briefly able to maintain healthy eating habits, but the bad habits slowly came back overtime after my initial binge I described in >>280838 since I started binging more often until it became an everyday thing. It'll probably take years before I officially become normal with my appetite.

I definitely have an eating disorder, but I don't think it was caused by dieting or losing weight too quickly. I blame my father for all my problems.

Well from experience he best way to get rid of a bad habit is to replace it with a different one. What I'm trying to do is keep a small booklet on me at all times listing how many calories I've had today 550 out of 1900 max so far and try to follow that religiously.

Also might I recommend >>250865 as a thread to get a good idea on foods that are very satiating but lower in calories.and eating multiple smaller meals throughout the day. And increasing your willpower.

>good idea on foods that are very satiating but lower in calories

I don't think you read anything I've posted. I don't stop when I'm satiated, I stop when I literally cannot eat another bite, and sometimes I vomit as a result. I've tried eating some of these more "satiating" foods and they don't work, they just make me want to eat more so I can get the taste out of my mouth.

>eating multiple smaller meals throughout the day

This doesn't work either; it's too stressful, I miss out on more complex and satisfying meals, it's not something I can maintain and I tried it before and all it did was lead to more weight gain. Snacking constantly and eating throughout the day is a bad habit, I have only ever had success with eating 2-3 meals per day. I appreciate the help, but I have already figured out a routine that works for me. I'll post it if anybody's interested.

OP here. Going to start posting under Roger.

I finally dropped the pride and told my coworkers about my eating disorder, and ever since I've been slowly recovering. I've managed to lose around 5 pounds. Pic related is a salad I like to make and usually eat mid-day before work (I work evenings). Purple kale, hemp seeds, shallots, tomatoes, half an avocado, chickpeas, a bit of salt, cayenne, nutritional yeast and topped with sriracha.

My eating habits have changed a lot now. I wake up and chug a liter of water 30 minutes before breakfast, and now I don't eat after 6:00pm, and my last meal is now always a big bowl of fruit to satisfy my sugar cravings and to give me the energy I need to get through dinner service without dying (I'm a chef). Not eating late is probably the best thing I've started doing, as I no longer sweat at night and I have more energy during the day.

One of my sous-chefs gave me advice that really helped too:

"You should walk away from a meal feeling satisfied, but not full. 1/4 of your stomach should be full after a meal, 1/2 of it should contain water, and the other 1/4 should be empty. Once your stomach is more than 3/4 full, that's when things start to go bad."

He is dead on. I can hardly function on the line with the way I've been stuffing myself, feeling too heavy, too bloated, etc. Now I feel much lighter and I'm actually losing weight.

Pick up vaping or chew nicotine gum whenever you have the urge to eat. You can also smoke cannabis every night. You'll have crazy eating binges while you're high, but the rest of the day your appetite will subside.

Absolutely horrible advice, don't listen to this faggot.

If you really want to lose weight, it very simple. Just eat less, and excercise more. Your diet doesn't even have to be that good tbh, as long as your consume less calories the weight will fly right off. Anybody who tells you anything different is lying.

Hey Ben!

Anyways this guy is right, I lost about 10kg/22lbs in a month just maintaining a decent diet and playing DDR.

Ontop of that DDR/Pump it Up are fun as shit and have a high skill ceiling aswell.

If you want to get started at home, just download stepmania and get a decent home pad.

TL;DR:

Drink water, step on arrows, lose weight while having fun.

I lost about 70 myself 2 years ago over a period of about 6 months, first 50 or so through starving which was made easy since I was going through the worst period of depression I'd ever felt in my life, last 20 on "keto". I bottomed out at about 170 and was (still am) 5'10", so still kind of fat but didn't look too bad with fitting clothes on. My cousin who probably thought I was so disgusting they wouldn't even look me in the eyes before ended up hugging me really tight to say goodbye that Christmas, nonstop compliments from family members who I was previously invisible to at gatherings. I actually got to feel human again for once, then I gained it all back in less than a year and became invisible once more. Unbelievably upset with myself for throwing it all away like that, I'm feeling inspired to do it again this time, preferably without the constant hunger pangs. I'll never look good enough to post naked pictures between the flab, scarring, stretch marks and hair, but I already know how happy I can be just to look decent in some fitted clothes. Already fucked up today, but I'll definitely start tomorrow and am already excited just remembering how good it feels to get through a day without eating any junk.

The Omega GX actually seems to break relatively quickly and will break pretty fast from what I have heard/seen, it is also overpriced as fuck.

Personally I advise you to start with some cheaper pads such as the Positive gaming Impact soft mat, it goes for about 40 bucks.

I myself started out with that and was able to work up to 10 footers / lvl 15 charts without use of a bar and lost 24 pounds in the progress.

If you are looking for abit higher end there is a polish producer who makes hard pads for 150 bucks or so.

>I think trying to eat healthy is what made me fat, since healthy meals cooked without oil taste like shit so I had to keep eating to satisfy myself.

Nigga, it's CICO. It doesn't matter so much what you eat, it only matters how many calories you take in daily compared to your TDEE. Take in less calories than your TDEE, and you will lose weight. Take in more, and you will gain. You could eat a steady diet of twinkies and cream puffs, but as long as you stay under your calorie budget, you will lose weight.

"Healthy" foods is just a rough measurement of how many nutrients are packed into the fewest calories. Eating healthy, and exercise for that matter, are important for health and well-being - both physical and mental, but are not necessarily important for determining whether or not you'll gain or lose weight.

The biggest problem is, that with most of those foods you think taste good - are likely extremely calorie dense - so you can't necessarily fill up on them, and they won't satiate you as long as, say - broccoli, boiled eggs, chicken breasts, and fruits.

It might seem hard at first, but learn proper portion sizes and familiarize yourself with how many calories are in each serving… and don't drink your fucking calories. Stick to water, or coffee/tea with artificial sweetener if you absolutely must have some. It's like learning a new language almost, but soon enough you'll easily find yourself able to eyeball and guestimate (correctly) the calorie content of food - and then just keep a rough running tally in your head for what you eat each day.

Sticking to an intermittent fasting schelule helps a ton, since a lot of what gets people into trouble is over-eating at multiple meals per day, or "grazing". Set yourself a 4~6 hour window where you allow yourself to eat, and pack in all your daily calories then. It'll let you eat more per sitting, allowing you to "gorge" at meals yet still maintain below your TDEE since you'll still be somewhat full from earlier meals when you're eating your final meals of the night and you'll be less likely to over-eat. Then just power through the hunger (if you have any) the rest of the time. If you can manage to space it out so that your meals come in the middle of your day, it's easier to skip eating immediately after you wake and before bed.

Getting used to the schedule sucks a bit at first, but after the first month you'll become accustomed to it.

And after you're done dieting, you need to fucking maintain. Unless you want to gain the weight back, this will be a PERMANENT change in your eating habits.

If you want to raise your TDEE and allow yourself to eat more, then exercise - especially weight training. The more muscle mass you put on, the more you have to eat to maintain it. Afraid being a muscle boy won't allow you to be a cute-boy anymore? Tough. We all gotta make compromises in life. Either give up the fattening foods, cut the amount of food, kill yourself with cardio, or increase muscle mass. Those are your choices. If you don't like those choices, then stay a fat boy, but fat boys aren't cuteboys anyhow - so you'll still probably end up not where you want to be.

Well, i'm no expert on weight-loss, but yeah this kinda seems to be working out for me, i don't eat healthy all that often, but i did eat LESS, alot less. And it's working! Slowly, but it's been losing me 10 kilos in 4 months or so.

Not that i do all that what is described here, i don't count calories (fuck that), i just have a scedule of eating every 4-5 hours or so, eating roughly 3 things a day.

Those things are typically just a sandwich, or a warm meal, or a snack/some candy, not eating as much candy also helped alot, probably, only buy a bit of candy now like twice a week. I'd probably lose even more weight if i declined my mom's generous offer to make me a big bowl of fries and some meat every wednesday and saturday when i visit, heh… But whatever works, slow and steady gets the best results, i heard.

Aleast i'll work some of it off by going everywhere on my bicycle. Suppose i'm lucky to be losing weight this effeciently when i do nothing but sit at the computer all day when not working/getting groceries/visiting stuff… It'll probably get harder/slower the lower my weight gets, though, or so i heard it works that way. Ah well, nothing to worry about when it's like a year away, for now.

That can cause hypoglycemia regardless of gender my dude. It depends on how well your body maintains its blood glucose, and that rides on both what kinds of foods you eat and your own body's ability to maintain. Either way definitely something you want to be careful about, especially if you engage in physical labor during the day but that goes without saying.

I can't take any shots at the effectiveness of that strategy, however, as I do that suggested eating schedule naturally when I work 12-hour overnight shifts because what I bring to my jobsite is what I get to eat. This lets me plan my intake out while my willpower is strongest and I'm kept honest by the lack of food when I'm on the job and the lack of energy to gorge when I'm off the job. I thought after taking this job I would be gaining weight(the "nightshift 50" my overweight coworkers call it) but I've actually lost 5 pounds. Best surprise of the week as I had resigned myself to gaining a bit while i adjusted to my new schedule.

Also 100% agree on the "don't drink your calories" part, such an easy way to cut out hundreds of calories from every day.

>>288561

Probably my biggest sources of calories is unhealthy foods offered by others, or unhealthy foods when going out with others. If your regular diet is on point though, you can afford to indulge a bit and those times with friends and family become that much more special in my experience.

I had steel cut oats today for the first time in over 10 years and I think this is honestly what's going to help me lose the weight I've been unable to. I needed something convenient, tasty, filling, and healthy, and I think I've found it. I'd forgotten how delicious it is, my main problem is an addiction to chips and pizza specifically, and it has a crunch to it like chips but also the sort of texture of pizza (not really, but in a weird way for me). Had one cup's worth (of dry) today which averages out to just about no sugar, no fat, no sodium, 600 calories, and 100% of daily recommended fiber intake. All else I had today was a can of soup and I'm full still and probably will be when I go to bed. I ate like 900 calories today and am completely satisfied, it's a fucking miracle. Of course I'll probably eat closer to 1500 in the future, but that's still great compared to my usual 2300.

Just wanted to share, I think the trick is finding a food that you like that will fill you up. My problem's always been cravings for horrible shit, so this is awesome.

I'm not exactly a /fit/izen but 20 squats and 20 pushups per day aren't going to do that much unless you are really, really fat

start thinking in sets (i.e. 10 pushups 15 secs is a set, do 3 of them then increase the number of sets or the number of pushups per set)

the 5 miles bike ride is a good start, even if running is always better

keep doing that and try to progressively increase the distance

remember to do squats in front of a mirror to ensure your posture is correct so you don't screw your back

and finish your routine with situps

I don't know a single person who jumped straight into running to lose weight and stuck with it. Start out walking 30-60min a day slowly working your speed up, and when you reach a point where you can do that without getting uncomfortable/winded, start working jogging into your routine. No need to go 100 straight from the start

Dunno if your still watching this thread but you should check out the warrior diet. What it basically is, is you dont eat anyting at all during the day and then gorge yourself in the evening/at night. Its based mostly on the fact that by far spent most of our time as hunter/gatherers. So what would happen is hunters would be out hunting for 10 hrs, either runing or lieing in wait and then once someone killed something they would all gorge themselves on meat, berries and roots. This method supposedly still works today, why shouldn't it, agriculture was discovered roughly 10k years ago, the last noticable change in humans were 70k years ago, that means for 60k years humans that were biologically identical to us were living as hunter/gatherers. Im not enterly sure where I read it but it said hunter/gathers had about a 30hr work week which is radically different from how much our ancestors had to work the last 2k+ years. Several people gave personal accounts on losing up to as much as 5 - 7 lbs a week, though that was with rigourus training everyday. BUT here is the best part, you can eat as much as you want in one sitting, since any normal human being would have great trouble eating more than what you need daily unless you are chugging pure oil. I would implore you to make homemade meals though, since you know better what you are eating. Im currently trying this diet because my brother had great succsess with it.He was loosing weight while working an office job working out every other day, and eating a a pound of ground beef and rice/pasta/potatoes once everyday. In three months he improved his 2k time which he was unable to change for long time before that. /rant I will try and follow the thread if anyones got any questions.

Oh and btw my brother is 6'5 and 200 lbs and im 6'8 300 lbs and trying to get rid of this shitty fat. So this diet might not fit you but if you are tired of small unfulfilling shitty meals with no taste then you should try this.

tl:dr Starve yourself all day, eat mostly whatever you want in the evening.

I don't know man, I can eat like 2500 calories worth of pizza in a sitting, and if I starve myself all day I get cravings for food like that. I mean it won't make you obese, but it doesn't help you lose weight unless you're already massively overweight.

I'm 6'3", was around 210lbs last September. Then over the course of a couple months I managed to drop to 170-180, mainly from quitting soda cold-turkey, cutting back on the snacks a bit, and eating smaller portions. Getting rid of soda was super-easy, I just replaced it with this lemon tea which tastes way better than soda and isn't nearly as sugary or addictive. I haven't been able to go any lower than 170, though.

I've been doing some basic exercises in my room, mainly just push-ups, crunches, and squats, but it's not very often since my job is a bit tiring. So I only really exercise on off days and short days. I don't run since I live with my parents and for some reason I'm too afraid of anyone knowing that I'm trying to lose weight. I just don't want them asking questions.

I hit a plateau for a few months and was stuck at 170 pounds but I've been trying a 1200 cal diet for the past month and things are going great. I've lost 7 pounds already just from dieting. I'm now about 28 pounds away from my current goal weight (gonna see how I look at that weight then most likely revise) and I'm steadily losing. Wish me luck /cb/!

So I thought I was doing good on my diet but last time I weighed myself there was almost no change

according to some internet page I need under 1900 calories a day, which I thought I was handling with only 2 pieces of bread for breakfast, 2 pieces for lunch and 2 pieces for dinner, with a snack or two if I got really hungry in between.

Despite me limiting myself to only 6 bread every day, my topping (ham, cheese and mayo) has been so awful, that just these breadslices has got me to around 2100 calories, excluding anything else like snacks or sweets.

What are some good-tasting food that I can easily have on bread that doesnt smell like absolute shit and is semi-easy to prepare?

How should I tell my family I'm trying to lose weight by changing my diet? I already eat nothing but dinner because all other meals we have end up being nothing but sugar. Everyone in my immediate family are terrific cooks and I can't move out at the moment because poorfag. Also I just found out that they put a little bit of pure sugar in almost everything. If I eat any less they're going to start bothering me about it.

My family is one of those ones you see on TV that is really bad about obesity. My grandpa (who I currently live with) says 'We don't eat because we're hungry, we eat to keep from getting hungry.' Which would be kinda true and useful information if 90% of the world's population didn't have food readily available to them.

tl;dr

>wanna lose weight

>family already thinks I eat a ridiculously low amount

>they put sugar in almost everything

I'm serious about the sugar thing too, my grandfather just put sugar in his spaghetti.

1 Serving of salad with chicken

How the hell are you working like that and still managing to be obese? Does "manual labor" mean something different for you than it does over here? Because over here it means you do like construction or roofing or demolition, or you work on a goddamn farm. The most you'll see is guys with a bit of a beer-belly once they hit 40ish, and that's only the foreman or owner or manager; all the rest of the employees are mexicans or stoner white boys in their 20's and they're rail thin except with massive upper body strength. Didn't really care about my appearance until a month ago. Went from 75kg@176cm to 69kg since then, just eating and drinking less as well as working manual labor. I feel a lot firmer and lighter but also tired and cold, though that might be unrelated. On about 1500-1700 kcal a day, less if I don't work.

It's been suprisingly easy so far, though I ate mostly because I love food, not out of compulsion. Loving food is a huge advantage since I also love healthy food, and food tastes better when you're hungry..

My tips are: cook your own food, eat slower, and get pickles/other 0 calorie snacks for whenever you're bored-eating.

Hey /cuteboys/

For the better part of a year now I've been trying to lose weight

I started at around 210lbs and in 1 month I dropped to 195lbs

For over 6 months now I've been stuck between 192-198lbs. I haven't been able to make much more progress

I've been tracking my calories and I've been about 70% consistent with keeping it at around 1900 calories a day with poor days sometimes going up to 2500

Before beginning I estimate I was eating atleast 2500-3500 a day

I'm not sure how to push myself beyond and lose more weight, isn't 2000 calories a day supposed to be the international average and will lead to a skinny bodytype?

I do some light excersize daily of jogging for about 30 minutes and lots of walking

I drink lots of water

Has anyone else been in this situation and also what weight do you think I would have to be to look acceptable, not cuteboy but just not fat. I imagine 150 would be a goal

Not at all…. Jogging for 30 minutes doesn't burn you any calories, you are essentially sedentary. I am currently 210lbs (used to be 245) and am eating less than 1700 calories a day.

Go here: https://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/. Fill out the first two steps to get your "daily energy expenditure". Mine is 2200. You need to eat way less than this to lose weight. It's that simple. You can do keto too (like I am), but that just helps with satiation and cravings.

I see, the calculator suggest between 1400 - 1900

1400 being a 40% fat deficit and 1900 being a 20% deficit

Although I'm sure this is largely based on body fat percentage which I have no idea what mine is so I went with 40% fat

1400 is too extreme for me but I guess my new calorie goal should be around 1500-1600, I've been doing around 1900 for awhile so I think my body should be prepared to handle a larger deficit without panicking.

The larger deficit the faster I'll lose weight which would give me the fastest results and make me feel better about my self giving me the motivation to continue but I will try to stay healthy and not hurt myself in other ways

How much exercise do you think I would need to be doing for the cardio to be working? My bike isn't going to be repaired for a few months but do you think I should make a more serious attempt at couch to 5k?

Thank you for your help I hope we can both lose weight and reach our goals in time

Well, i can only assume my body has a natural predisposition to being bloody godamn fat. I tried cutting down on sweets (though the problem remains that sweets and occasionally meat are like nearly the only things i eat these days because my taste pupils are fucked), to the point of eating only 2 things every day (half a sandwich at work, 1 thing after work, and a half a thing at 20:00 or so), for the last few months. That and some excercise early on that didn't do anything at all and kinda gave up doing.

And yet this did nothing but maybe, MAYBE get rid of 1 kilo. JUST ONE, UGH. So far the plan is to eat a mere 1.5 things a day now and excercise 30 to ideally 60 minutes a day on one of those exercise bike things. And just PRAY TO FUCKING GOD IT WORKS. I'd rather worry about eating healthy AFTER i lost weight, not dealing with TOO much bullshit in one go and all that, and hope that works.

How the fuck my body stays this fat when half the time i'm basically eating 2 double-sided sandwiches a day at most, who knows…

All i know is i really wanna get rid of it so i can put the good qualities of my body to good use (no hair anywhere and smooth skin, doing OK in the face department too, i guess)…

But no idea if that plan's gonna work, suppose no-one has a better idea? Is it even worth excercising for like 60 min if it gets rid of 300-350 calories at best? (Almost as much calories as eating one thing.) Already get sweaty as hell after 15 minutes, unless i'd get the same results but less sweaty if i slow down and take the long and slow road. Unless the thing is just inaccurate. Beyond excercise i don't really do much at work/home but sit though, which doesn't help.

Ah well, just kinda wanted to rant a little (and hope to find some helpful advice, too). All this weight makes it impossible to do anything fun…

I dont want to be that one skinny guy who posts but you all seem really adamant on losing weight and I really wanna help if I can. Most of it will be rehash but it works really fucking well honestly.

So I'll give you the run down on my habits, the first big one is portion sizes. Let's go with pizza. I have a friend who is about 235lbs at 6ft tall and it's all fat because he never does shit. He'll go and have 6-8 slices and pig the fuck out like a bottomless pit. I'll have 2 slices maybe 3 max if I had a skimpy lunch. I stand just barely under 6ft and weigh 130-145 depending on my habits. The only real difference between us is portion sizes and maybe a tiny bit of exercise.

Which brings me to the other thing. Regular cardio. I'll do about 30-60 minutes of solid jump rope once every 3-4 days(do more if you can I'm just a lazy fuck) consistently to keep my metabolism up, you want to get into the habit of this if you can because not only will it help with the weight, it will help tone you up and give you all nice cute butts and calves and make you feel better in general I promise. With that comes another common point I've seen, beverages. Sorry anons but if you're aiming at losing weight there's no real in between imo here. Water all day erry day. I have a coffee every morning but aside from that no sugary beverages ever. I don't have cheat days and I don't treat myself, diet beverages are pointless trash and a waste of money too. If you go with this you're easily cutting out 25% of your sugar intake if not more which will only help you and you save some money to spend on cute socks or whatever. Cheating also snowballs hard so fuck that

Lastly consistent meals. I'll admit I've been fucking this one up hard lately but ideally you want to stick with a solid 3 meals a day at the same time everyday and not skip anything because it fucks up your metabolism. Too little and you're now in reserve mode retaining as much as possible, too much and you get used to eating a lot and crave it more and become fat. You need a reasonable balance. I know a few girls who are overweight as fuck and they're always talking about how they "didn't have lunch or breakfast" but then they go and pig the hell out at supper time like bears ready for hibernation. Always have breakfast, always have lunch always have supper. If you're gonna snack make it raw veggies and fruits. If you have trouble keeping fruit pick some dried fruit up at the supermarket and have a consistently small baggie of them, the whole portion size thing right. My breakfast is usually 2-3 eggs and a side of something toast oatmeal fruit etc. Lunch is going to be a sandwich(think 6 inch subway) with a side of fruit or veggies. Supper varys but it's always a small portion of your typical shit. Stay reasonable and consistent anons. You can shake the types of foods up but don't fuck the portions or the health quality of the food if you can.

Thats all I got. It's not going to be easy but it is what it is. I really hope you guys get to your goals, good luck and stay positive!

I started at 325 lbs., decided I needed to lose weight and lost 20 lbs., but now I am kinda stuck. I've been running a little bit, doing some squats and stuff about twice a week. How can I go about keeping motivated on the daily and what would be good for losing weight? I want to not build up a completely nuscular body.

Also, opinions on P90X3? I think that would help me lose weight but I am kinda afraid that it would also make a gain a good bit of muscle in the process.

if p90x is anything like I think it is, then I think it'd be best if you did a mixture of cardio and resistance training. cardio to speed up the weight loss, and resistance training to help sculpt your body

if you just try and lose weight without building some muscle in the process, you will burn too much muscle and risk being skinny fat when enough weight comes off, plus you'll burn more calories with extra muscle. just try p90x or a 3-day a week lifting regime mixed with cardio on your off days. by the end of it, if you aren't happy with the muscle you've gained, you can put yourself on a caloric deficit until you've burned enough muscle

I used an ECA stack. It's really effective and cheap as fuck. There will be articles saying this gives you a risk of a heart attack, which worried me at first, so I spent a lot of time looking into it and I ended up deciding the heart attack risk was bullshit. Still something to take into consideration I guess, especially if you have a pre-existing heart condition. Don't take it with a pre-existing heart condition. As someone who has taken ADHD meds for most of my childhood, it feels EXACTLY like I'm on adderall or vyvanse.

Just remember to drink enough water because that stuff will dehydrate you super quick, and to make sure you eat about 1k calories a day so you don't have a fucking heart attack from starving yourself too much. Also only do it 5 days a week and then take like a 2 week break after 6 weeks.

What?

Look guys, how many times does it have to be said. The ONLY thing good for weight loss is Calories IN - Calories OUT. If that quantity is negative, you are losing weight. Looks up how many calories you burn a day, eat less than that. It's simple math. Pills and only eating special things won't help. If you eat 1200 calories of peanut butter a day and nothing else, you will lose weight. Eat 2000 and you will gain weight.

Peanuts, peanut butter, and most nuts are 6 calories a gram. I've read that they're supposed to be satisfying, but they aren't anywhere close to 6 calories a gram satisfying to me. The drugs are not sustainable, even if they weren't poison that drive your metabolism insane. The only thing that will work long term is learning self control, discipline, and proper diet. You're only wasting money and harming yourself by trying to lose weight any other way.

Honestly, hams never fail to surprise me with the lengths they will go to to avoid learning self control. All the money they spend on supplements and special foods, all the money and medical talent wasted on weight loss surgery. There is only a single thing you can eat that will make you lose weight, and it costs less than nothing. That thing: LESS.

I can't speak for anyone else, and this does depend on your metabolism, but I recently went from a 36 inch waist down to a 34 inch waist purely by walking. I had to walk four to eight miles almost every day consistently for about a year and a half, but it happened. I still have a gut and man boobs but it just goes to show what a difference having a daily routine can have. That's why I like jogging: I can do it any time of the year and all I really need to do is get up and put some music on and I'm moving. Apparently some people also dance to achieve this effect.

Healthy eating is also a factor and I've been very consciously eating smaller meals (when I say "smaller meals" I mean in the American sense that I now eat McChickens instead of Quarter Pounders every day, but it is a difference) which has the added bonus that smaller meals are less pricey and can help you afford other things that you can treat yourself with (in my case beer and music stuff)

There's this guy named Ray Peat who has some interesting ideas about weight gain and health. His shtick seems to be that the key underlying factor is excessive pufa (polyunsaturated fatty acid) consumption. According to him pufas are inflammatory and cause oxidative stress. Not surprisingly, foods typical of the modern western diet are high in vegetable oils(most vegetable oils are polyunsaturated fats). Also, according to him, sugar and saturated fat counteracts the stress response. Which is why he's such a proponent of fruit and coconut oil.

So it's basically a runaway positive feedback loop that goes like this.

>Eat calorie excessive of foods high in sugar and PUFAs

>Body burns the sugars first and stores up the PUFAs in your adipose tissue. (body prefers burning sugars over fat)

>Get fat

>Eat a calorie deficit to lose weight without changing diet

>PUFAs you eat are now burned. PUFA stores in your body are release into blood stream to be burned

>Burning PUFAs cause inflammation/oxidative stress making you feel like absolute shit.

>Try to trudge through this for a while in the name of losing weight but can only hold out for so long

>Limbic system says enough is enough and takes over

>Repeat

Added to this is that the bigger you get the faster your metabolism gets. So the even MORE you need to eat to prevent stored PUFAs from being dumped into your blood stream and causing oxidative stress. That's why you always see fat people walking around with those huge double gulp sodas. They're basically self medicating.

Within the context of the modern diet, nobody eats high fat foods without high sugar. Think about it. When was the last time you've seen someone down a bucket of fried chicken or grease laden pizza with just a glass of water. Never. It's always with soda and mashed potatoes/biscuits/bread. High fat/low sugar foods are non existent whereas high sugar/low fat foods are plenty.

Ray has a lot of other really wonkish ideas but this one at least seems to make a lot of sense

So if this theory is true, what should one actually do if they want to get rid of their excess PUFA stores without dealing with all of the inflammation that eating at a calorie deficit causes?

Does he have any evidence for that? I think I've seen before that trans unsaturated fats can cause issues such as that, wouldn't be too surprising given that trans fats don't really occur in nature, but I haven't heard much about just cis-unsaturated fats being bad.

Probably try to replace all PUFAs (vegetable oils, shortenings, margarines, grain fed fatty meats and fats) with saturated fats (coconut oil, grass fed butter, etc) and up your fruit and veggie intake. Just a wild guess, but I'm guessing that if you change your diet to be based around minimally processed whole foods, you'll be able to eat at a small enough calorie deficit to slowly bleed off the pufa stores at a rate that's tolerable long term. Supplementing magnesium and potassium wouldn't hurt either since most people are deficient in them. Though you have to be careful with potassium as too much can wreck your shit.

>>362533

Well omega-6 fats have quite a bit of research to point towards them being inflammatory.

What's kind of interesting is that there's a doctor named Terry Wahls who has multiple sclerosis and managed to effectively cure herself with a paleo-like diet. Both she, Ray Peat and other researchers (like this guy- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAvL0md46_M) seemed to have independently come to the conclusion that inflammation is a major key component in the chronic diseases. Whether it be through chemicals and byproducts released into the body by the gut microbiome and/or by inflammatory fats directly inhibiting mitochondrial respiration.

I’m at a pretty decent weight but I need just a little less to push me over the top, say a 10 lb loss and some toning. My diet is extremely restrictive due to food sensitivities. I can’t keep meat, or most other forms of protein down except for yogurt and nuts, which means I have a pretty low protein intake. My diet is almost entirely fruits, veggies, and carbs. Is this a good diet for my purposes? I’m looking to lose weight and I don’t care about gaining muscle.

Maybe this isn't the correct thread to ask, but it's the closest one to my question. How does one safely gain weight as my boyfriend would be much happier if I wasn't a spooky skeleton. I constantly forget to eat and when I do feel stomach pains from hunger, I usually accidentally ignore it because I'm too engrossed in a task. I could just engorge on fast food but that doesn't sound healthy to me, and again it's about gaining fat more than muscle.

>Does anybody have tips on how to get back into the dieting mindset?

If you're looking to get into the "dieting" mindset, then you've already failed and are doomed to cycled between cuts and binges. You need to make permanent lifestyle changes. Diets (as most people use the word) are inherently temporary things, and their associated weight loss is also temporary.

Personally, an 8:16 intermittent fasting regimen has worked wonders for me. Can't speak to any of the broscience bullshit like life extension, but it cuts out snacking as an option and restricts my eating window to one of the busiest parts of the day for me - so I really do have to eat with a mind to proper nutrition and eating enough in that time period - because I might not get another chance to have a meal before the end of my window. I can gorge on my first meal coming out of the fast, and still be somewhat satiated by my second meal (so I won't even feel like overeating).

Part of the problem of snacks is entwined with the problems of willpower. Sugar and high-calorie foods are addictive. Your body is designed to live in a state of nature, after all, where such foods are rare and highly desired by competitors. Their high energy bounty could literally be the difference between life and death. Now we're flooded with it, but that drive to consume is still there as if were in the jungles/savannahs. Each time you tell yourself no, or negotiate with yourself to decide portions, you stress and fatigue yourself - fighting against your urges. You will cave in. It's easier (at least for me) and far more effective to just power through a hard NO, rather than constantly haggling with my appetite (and losing).

You're an addict, born an addict, and living in a culture which promotes and encourages indulgence. And you don't have the option of abstinence, the way drug and alcohol abusers do with their addiction. You HAVE to learn to manage that addiction. There is no other option short of being committed to a hospital, loony bin, prison, or other institution where you are not free to make your own meal choices.

Either find something else that makes you happy, or just never have anything around the house to snack on that isn't healthy and very low in calories. If you start binge-eating because of anxiety, but there is nothing but carrots and rice cakes, you'll be fine.

Of course, if you're like me and the only thing that makes you feel better is intake of simple sugars… you're probably fucked.

Anons, I have a difficult time.

>weigh 230lb

>time progresses with simple calorie cutting and some light exercise

>find myself stuck around 180lb

I lost around 40lb. The problem? I cannot get below 180lb lately. Before it was really easy to lose 10lb per month. I only had to eat within 1,600 calories. The current moment feels impossible. Each week I have to cut and workout to lose 1lb and inch down. I constantly find myself breaking my terms and reducing it, but also re-gaining weight. I am having problems managing hunger and pushing the weight down. I tried exercise and it is fairly difficult to maintain a well rounded lifestyle with stress and upcoming problems. I need advice on abstaining from junk food, reducing weight, and dealing with hunger.

>Hunger

It has been a huge issue for me to deal with lately. I could use advice. Has anyone ever been stuck like I am? I think maybe I've just been eating too low, like around 1,400 calories instead of sticking to 1,600 – perhaps that makes it impractical. I only do 1,400 calories to lose it faster, but perhaps it is making this impossible and forcing to into crashes/binging.
