I've heard a lot of mixed stuff on Horizon. Nothing good enough to make me want to play it, but enough that it looks like a game made by real developers, as opposed to MA:E. Story and dialogue wise, they seem to have a similar issue to what MA:E has on a technical level. I wasn't really wording it great, either. Dr. Peterson did go into that, actually (it was the interview with Sargon, if anyone's curious). Women tend to look for men who have equivalent or higher success in terms of wealth or status (or the perception of such). Wealthy career-oriented women are not any different, but the pool of men they treat as prospects is way lower because of this, which makes it a ridiculous metric to base potential partners on. Unfortunately, being educated and successful is not any indicator of the level of self-awareness required to realize this.
Maybe 'intimidated' is not the right word, but essentially men assume that she'd never consider them a possibility because they don't meet the superficial expectations that she'd want. And for the most part, they're right. She wouldn't consider them. Not until it's too late. By the time she accepts that she has to drop the need for a man to be a captain of industry, she's in her late 30s or early 40s, and if men weren't intimidated by her before, the "I want to be pregnant by year-end" shtick will sure fucking do it.
Thing is, a woman like that is after successful men, but isn't fundamentally a more fit partner than less successful women. Generally speaking, men don't care how much you make. And rich men really don't care, because it means even less to them. They might have other requirements, like you having an education, because you have to be respectable, but generally speaking, if they're going to be shallow, it's going to be based on appearance.
Add to that the general high-maintenance that aggressive career types tend to have, and you get a picture of a woman who expects a lot out of a man, but isn't really bringing anything to the table which he doesn't already have if he meets those expectations.
Everyone can do this a little. There's so many things that can be wrong with someone on a personal level, so every time you add a superficial requirement that potential partners must meet, you shoot yourself in the foot a little. The career woman example just takes it to the logical extreme by amping those superficial requirements up, so you're left with an extremely small pool of men, many of whom will be horribly incompatible just based on their personality.
On top of all that, I wonder how many of these women expect men to take the first step. Just like the expectation that they be as, or more, successful, I suspect that this may transcend social class. The whole "I can't find a good man" from women who only ever wait for men to see them out. The thing that it comes down to that saddens me is that said career women are obviously good at something, even if 'being a desirable woman' isn't really it.
