He got the certification in CADD and the Associate degree in CADD. Somewhat redundant to get the certification if you're going for the Associate, but he got both for some reason. The bigger question I always wonder is what his GPA was, I'm guessing no higher than a 2.3 considering his attitude in college along with him taking ten semesters to get a degree that only takes four semesters and a cert that takes one, combined with the fact that failing a course almost guarantees a fucked GPA.

A cert is useful for getting the slight advantage over someone else in terms of raw education to get your foot in the door in an entry level position. Once you start climbing up the career ladder though, the CADD cert isn't worth much which is when the Associate requirement kicks in, followed by a requirement for a Bachelor. Nowadays most companies I see won't even accept an entry level drafter unless they have that Associate degree in CADD at a minimum. However one thing that I've noticed even with having a cert in CADD is that the employment history matters way significantly more than the degree and someone who has that employment history and degree will beat out someone with a cert and degree anyday. Which is why a lot of graduates including myself got fucked hard and got stuck with horrible jobs out of school due to no employment histories.
