i'm a mango and animu reading weeb but this is not a tread about mango vs comics

>inb4 take it to /a/

with all the buzz around the Alita movie, i decided to read the manga to see how the story followed from the 93 OVAs, before i knew it, i had gobbled almost 20 years of serialization in less than a week

i loved the story, had a blast reading it, but when i was done i noticed there was a hole in my schedule than i didn't know how to fill

every day for a week i'd come back from work all exited to know how the story followed from the last cliffhanger i read, not needing to wait a week or a month to get the follow up to the story was amazing and adictive, so adictive that when i ran out of story to read i felt like a junkie who ran out of meth.

this isn't the first time it has happened to me, i find a cool long runing mango, eat it up in under a week and then feel a hole inside my soul

here's my question for all the weeb hating, wester comic reading, capeshit loving /co/mrades here

has something similar ever happened to you?

Western comics have been around with the same old characters for longer than most of us here have been alive, they've gone through several reboots, retcons, relaunches, etc not to mention all the spinoffs, side stories and fucking miltyverses that make western comics to complicated for newbies to just get in and start reading

Superman ain't like Berserker or One Piece where there is only one story made by one author with no spin offs nor crossovers, and for all the bragging western comics make about muh continuity across multyple series, most wester comics to my limited knowledge that is most likelly wrong are not nearly as cliffhangery as their eastern cousins, (but maybe that's becos i'm only familiar with one shot stories that became popular or short runs of a character made by one particualr author)

Now with Alita, i'm doomed to wait one month for 15 to 20 fucking pages in the Mars Chronicles saga, the previus saga had (Last Order) 30 to 40 pages a month and the first saga (Battle Angel) had 50 to 60.

Seeing the Berserker release schedule i realize i'm actually luky.

does any western reader understand the pain of the Berserker/Alita/insert mangoname here fanboy?

if so, wich is the series that got you so hooked that you felt a hole in your soul when you finally finished reading it?

You sure it wasn't an accidental double-post? Also, why the fuck would you announce to everyone that you reported the fuck? Just report, hide and ignore, faggot. Fucking hell.

>>1056136

Holy shit you are quite the faggot, but surely we can make a discussion happen it won't because the average user is mouth-breathing retard.

Anyway, no, not that I can remember. If it puts a hole in you, it's probably not that great. I didn't feel that away about Beowulf, but I did after Cowboy Bebop (although the movie afterwards filled that hole up).

>giving the /a/ faggot any form of attention, especially when refused to check the share thread, vola or looked around the catalog before making this shit thread

>it won't because the average user is mouth-breathing retard.

Oh you're a goon from /tv/, that would explain it.

I got that after bingeing Alita, Fist Of The Blue Sky, and Baki, and I'm sure I'll get it after I binge Berserk and Jojo.

As far as Western long-term comics go, you're never going to get the same kind of long-term deep binge satisfaction from a corporate-owned book that switches creators every few years. If you need that fix, you gotta look at the creator-owned indies, like Paul Chadwick's Concrete, Mike Baron's Badger and Nexus, Dave Sim's Cerebus, Rod Espinosa's The Courageous Princess, Fred Perry's Gold Digger, Jim Starlin's Dreadstar, Will Eisner's The Spirit, Matt Wagner's Grendel, etc.

Either that or stick to the series that had definite ends, like Lone Wolf and Cub, Riki-Oh, or Fist Of The North Star.

Try reading Lastman. It's a middle ground between manga and European comics. Artystyle is a bit of an acquired taste. If you can get acclimated to One's art in Mob Psycho 100 or Fukumoto's in Kaiji/Akagi, you should have not trouble with Vives' work in Lastman. However, series is shorter than most manga, so you would probably eat through it in a month or two (six tomes in English, 10 chapters/issues each and one or two scanlated).

This is damned near universal. Binging a show or comic and then either catching up and having to wait weeks or months, or having nothing more to read/watch fucks with the dopamine hit you were getting from the instant gratification of seeing the story develop and progress as fast as you could consume things.

Ideally, the disciplined thing to do would be to slow your consumption rate. Force yourself to only read one chapter a day, or only one a week for those slow releases. Don't shut down everything else in your daily schedule just to sit down and binge for hours on end.

The only thing I can suggest is get super busy with work or life, then time will fly by faster and the next episode will be here before you know it

I only check things when they're done, only in rare cases i start something i know won't be finished by the time i finished with it Berserk, Alita, there's plenty of stuff to read that won't leave you hanging.

And yes Alita's manga is fucking great, haven't read Mar's Chronicle though
