2000AD, Brave and the Bold Batman and Wonder Woman, Deaths Head II
Easily the best ongoing published between the big two right now, the book feels very British and that's no surprise given the creative team. Crazy to think that no one on this board is talking about it.

The whole auction scene is great, familiar faces in the crowd, great looking character deigns that remind me of F-Zero characters and humour all mixed together.
The Shepard concept is fun and it does not devolve into weird griping about the environment, >>1044574 Third and fourth page are great and funny. That ending too, shit is getting real.
The art in this issue is again fantastic and overflowing with life and creativity. This is the quality of comics when you actually have creative people behind them and are not trying to find bargain bin YA authors and save every penny you can when it comes to artists.
Next Issue is out 2/6
In a bar on Rann, two shrouded strangers recount two blood-chilling narratives—one in which a Blackstar heavyweight demands access to a secret vault on planet Weirwimm, threatening its gruesome annihilation with Sun-Eaters; and the other about maverick Hal Jordan and his small cadre of GLs struggling to destroy those same Sun-Eaters. And the cliffhanger—as any TGL fan will tell you about this book—may stun you enough to buy two copies!

Oh damn, this is the best capeshit I've read in years. God bless Grant Morrison, he was born to write Green Lantern, his mad idea factory of a brain has enough room to stretch when you give him the whole universe to play in, and he still remembers comics are supposed to be fun. He knows how to bring that sense of wonder back, like Kirby, Moebius, and Walt Simonson.
Nice art, too, reminds me of Dale Keown.
This finally washes the bad taste of every goddamn post-crisis Green Lantern story out of my mouth.

Got back into DC due to Rebirth.
Then all the slow retconning of Rebirth started to happen.
So reading any DC book was a slap in the face, so I stopped.
But I will admit, that the Green Lantern titles were great when I was reading them, and not really surprised that it is the best DC book given what is going on with Supes, Bats, WW, Titans and their Heroes in Crisis bullshit.

If I had to summarize this series in a few words, "This is comics", it's refreshing considering the mire that we are wading through currently. I was not expecting Mu to die so quickly or that he and Hal would not have a epic final duel, but I doubt his machinations are far from over Overall its a pretty great issue and I love that Morrison is digging up old school GL villains and not the different Coloured Corps.

Nah, those two are wonderful opposites of the same coin.
Moore represents the angry bitter nihilistic directionless side. The demand for meaning without structure. Angry at being forced to do this sort of thing. The people who find the very idea of Superheroes to be terrible and that they should all die gruesome deaths because If I don't like them they should all die. Yeah Moore later regretted it, but without really changing the way he viewed the industry. Its more like his own bullshit was thrown in his face.
Morrison is the opposite. He's the guy who would fuck superman given the opportunity. So much self-aggrandizement, so much self adoration and naval gazing. He represents the blind fanboys that would and will buy anything. The one whos always willing to flub continuity, or development for the next "Important thing".
Both are utterly terrible for the industry. You may not see it reading one of their works, but read enough and a pattern emerges.

But Morrison always manages to fix continuity, even acknowledging things like 50's Batman in space, and 90's overcompensating Chippendale Superman. And fucking Parallax. And makes them cool.
And if ever a book needed a healing touch, it's Green Lantern. It was hit hardest by deconstruction, edgy grimdark, and just plain bad writing.

I was going to mention that exactly, while Morrison is defiantly a fanboy he defiantly has a deep reverence for continuity, which personally I appreciate. Also to your point about Green Lantern needing a healing touch, I absolutely agree GL has been stuck in the mire of Grimdark/Rainbow wars it really needed a back to roots series and its definitely a plus that it has one if not the best artists working for the big two right now to make his vision come to life.
