So was Brak only pretending to be retarded while Space Ghost was under hypnosis? Did Zorak and Moltar initially hypnotize him in the hopes that he would be easier to manipulate but then his new persona proved so unstable they ended up imprisoned by him in the talk show as well?

 No.1028885

I think they were just so retarded that they decided to mess around in a talk show instead of kill him or do anything evil.

Brak was retarded the whole time, Zorak just convinced him for a while that the villian stuff was a game and got him to play along when actually fighting Space Ghost.

the better question is whether the guests were all holograms or somesuch or did Z&M somehow manage to get SG an actual talk show? like, can you imagine one/both of them sitting down in an office and pitching the idea to some poor asshole who's convinced he's hallucinating the entire thing?

I loved how the super-serious Space Ghost comic still managed to reference Coast To Coast, like how Ghost's first name is Thaddeus, his wife is Bjork, and Zorak can be exploded again and again because he has clones.

Its more likely something went wrong, and all three of them (and the rest of the Legion of Doom) ended up hypnotized into thinking they retired and became Slave Ghosts employees on the talk show. Either that or Space Ghost was so unstable he imprisoned them all and forced them to be his employees. Its the only way this can work without contradicting Zorak and Moltar's private or internal dialogue which shows clear hatred and regret over their situation with no clear escape.

Also when you think about it, there are some hints that Coast to Coast was a sham. Space Ghost's grandpa (played by Macho Man Randy Savage) was revealed at the end to have actually been working for someone else and he was escorted out of the set by one of the villains from the old show. Hypnotism was also frequently used on the show.

>>1029017

>his wife is Bjork

How does that even work? Also wasn't his love interested introduced in the Space Stars cartoon?

>Zorak has clones

Didn't the show make it clear several times that Zorak just had incredible regenerative abilities? One episode even revolved entirely around it where he reveals he can even regenerate himself from ash.

Fucking brats. The peak of the series and the greatest episode of all... was Mayonnaise... It had every single element that made Coast to Coast great to begin with. Delivering on clever and satirical humor without over-reliance on the surreal.

>IT'S TIME TO PICK UP YOUR TOYS, TOYMAKER!

Its only flaw was not having a better guest, but it proved that Space Ghost C2C was great by itself without celebrity faggots.

Now this is underrated. Steve Rude and Mark Evanier. Done in the original style, and Steve Rude does a pretty good Alex Toth riff, whatever Alex Toth says, lol.

Anyone here read Mark Evanier's Dynomutt comics? Dyno was actually pretty competent, having read them first as a kid I was really surprised when I finally watched the cartoon and he's retarded.

Still wrong. They switched to Adult Swim mid season 7.

 No.1029215

>>1029129

I only heard of the Dynomutt comics but never actually read them. A more competent Dynomutt would've made the actual cartoon far more watchable. I always enjoyed the take on Blue Falcon & Dynomutt seen in Dexter's Lab, and while I didn't like Mystery Incorporated much, I also loved their take on BF & DM. A goofy idiot sidekick who isn't a total fuckup partnered with an incredibly serious and competent hero really delivers on a balanced and clever chemistry, unlike in the actual cartoon where BF was constantly the victim of humiliation at the hands of his own dog with little coolness factor in his side. The show honestly came off as "what if Batman was a loser?" which is a shame since it had so much potential as show in Dexter's Lab and MI.

No. The ones who sued him were his sidekicks, Jan & Jayce. Although it was possible they were hypnotized too. The Herculoids did threaten to kill Space Ghost for what he did to Jan & Jayce.

That's when the series began to dip.

Space Ghost was in jail after getting his shit fucked by Dr. Nightmare ("attorney at law" or so he claims) who was probably part of the scam/hypnotism (and he may have backstabbed Zorak and Moltar by hypnotizing them too so he could keep all the benefits for himself and have less rivals in villainy) and they probably needed a stand-in host to keep up the ruse, so they hypnotized Birdman (or he really is a loser) and had him take Space Ghost's place to maintain the illusion, or its also likely the talk show was actually being broadcasted and they wanted to be famous and have extra cash after realizing their ploy to keep Space Ghost busy was actually profitable and fun. And the "jail" Space Ghost was in was actually Cyclo's base (a villain from the old show) with Space Ghost's cellmate being Cyclo himself.

It all fits so well with Dr. Nightmare being the key to all of this, especially with him randomly showing up with Jan and Jayce and "producing" footage of Space Ghost abusing them. And the chances of Moltar and Zorak being hypnotized are also likely considering Moltar was also the host of Toonami, a role a molten villain would normally not undertake (and then quickly abandoned so a random robot named Tom with an inferior voice could take his place). They were all played by Dr. Nightmare!

Think about it! Its stupid enough to be true!

Most people often seem to act as if George Lowe's purposely portrayed Space Ghost as comedic and absurdist but he wasn't the first to portray Space Ghost in such a way. If anything it was a perfect follow up to the portrayal of Space Ghost's character in the 80s Space Ghost revival. Did anyone here ever watch the second Space Ghost series on the Space Stars show? Space Ghost was basically as much a shitposter there as George Lowe was in the first 6 seasons of Coast to Coast before it started getting more mature with the coming of Adult Swim.

 No.1029544

>>1029517

Maybe Birdman was a test subject to see if the hypnosis could work. The announcer during that skit could've been Dr. Nightmare (since he can mimic voices and change his appearance) and he probably already hypnotized Zorak and Moltar and the rest of the Legion of Doom into thinking they were retired and part of the show. Also the guests all actually being villains/fakes becomes more likely when you remember the Robin Leach episode where he's revealed to actually be the villain Zoltran. Moltar immediately got angry at Zoltran for making him lose his parking space after he attacked Space Ghost, yet Zoltran was completely confused as to why Moltar was taking his role so seriously.

 No.1031254

Is it just me or did the show feel completely different after the Emeril episode and went further into absurdist territory? One could argue that the first 30 episodes fit pretty well into the comic's canon but anything after that is just too weird.
