Has anyone seen it yet? If not, here's a magnet.

I think it lacked foreshadowing and Doomsday rampaging. Here, the league gets in on the action almost from the start while in the comics I think he plows through 3 different teams before the main branch of the

league has a go at it.

>Bibbo's dialogues are pretty faithful to the comics from what I remember.

>Hawkman gets trashed, surprising no one

>Aquaman gets bitch slapped so hard he stays out of the movie until the funeral

>Flash gets slapped by a lucky punch

>Green Lantern tries to show off, and proceeds to get his constructs broken to the point he loses consciousness

>Batman survives by dodgetanking until Doomsday gets tired of putting up with his plot armor and decides to go for some civilians instead

>Wonder Woman survives the longest but in the end is no match

>Martian Manhunter actually counters Doomsday perfectly…. until he lands in an (in)conveniently placed fire that puts him out for the rest of the movie.

>Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, Ice, Fire, Guardian, Guy Gardner and that villainess-turned-heroine-that-wanted-superman's-warrior-dick-whose-name-I-cannot-remember-for-the-life-of-me do not appear.

>No Matrix Supergirl (or any Supergirl in that regard) at all.

>Luthor's house arrest is the biggest farce in the entire movie. Also, he dons his Australian Luthor wig at one point.

>Cyborg showcasts his daddy issues and gets destroyed again just like every other tuesday. That character is made to job isn't it?

>Superboy has the Nu52 costume.

We got death of superman and funeral for a friend in this movie, the next one will probably cover reign of the supermen and the return of superman.

>in the comics I think he plows through 3 different teams before the main branch of the league has a go at it.

No, in the comics the main branch of the league (wonder woman, batman, green lantern, etc.) don't even fight Doomsday. They only show up for a single issue after Superman is already dead to get their memorial armbands.

Except Green Lantern. He was off fucking around in space and returns only after Cyborg Superman reduces Coast City to a smouldering crater.

Blame the cartoons, but when I see Lex Luthor, I expect him to command respect with only his voice. That is just how much Clancy Brown owned the role. Lex was garbage in this movie. And the movie is worse for it.

But at least they allowed Clark and Lois to shake off part of the nu52 parasite the animated movies were saddled with.

 No.1013817

I found it funny how they referenced the Superman/Wonder Woman fling.

>But at least they allowed Clark and Lois to shake off part of the nu52 parasite the animated movies were saddled with.

What do you mean?

 No.1013822

>>1013817

The movies were still behind, using a lot of the nu52 recots. And up until this one, had Supes and Wonder Woman as an item. They finally allowed Clark and Lois to date in this one.

 No.1013826

>>1013809

Lex was worse in the original, doing absolutely fuck-all during the entire arc.

 No.1013827

>>1013822

I see. I haven't seen any of the nu52 movies besides the first one that was more of a Cyborg origin story.

Luthor in this film was an arrogant, annoying prick but that's his modern character in a nutshell. I'm just glad he didn't waste screentime with his aussie Luthor+Matrix Supergirl ship.

Super Shades didn't appear until Action Comics #687, so you'll have to wait until Reign of the Supermen to fully enjoy the complete bullshit that was his character arc.

Maybe they'll change the shit ending of revealing that Super Shades was a house ghost and having Superman suddenly return by being shit out of a giant robot.

Fuck's sake, they had a chance to go full 1993 with this movie and they blew it. If they're not gonna go that far, for what purpose does this movie exist when they already did a Death of Superman adaptation back in 2007?

Nigger, if they went full 1993 and stayed absolutely faithful to the source, it would the hilariously awful and be DC's animated admission that they're con-artists.

OK, it's shit. It is missing too much. Doomsday has zero buildup. There is zero reason to be afraid of him, the way he gets shoved around by Wonder Woman even makes him look weak.

The last fight also sucks. It just feels small and too long, rather than epic and earth shattering. The resurrection attempts are completely missing which severely lowers the emotional impact of Superman's death. And maybe it's just bad voice acting and the art style, but emotions seem to be missing from the movie as a whole.

 No.1022728

>>1013756

The problem with the new DC animated movie line is that every movie either focuses on Superman being better than everyone else despite other league members actually being able to hold off him or doomsday in the actual comic books.

A lot of characters are just made incompetent or weak to make superman/batman look good.

 No.1029806

>>1013882

The actual Death of Superman is pretty boring. Funeral for a Friend and Reign of the Supermen are where the money's at.

 No.1029902

>>1029806

Agreed. The Death was a bunch of splash pages of Superman fighting a monster we'd never seen before.

 No.1039528

>>1013756

Just saw this movie but holy crap, was it complete hot garbage.

>Superman is turned into a creepy, wishy-washy loser pining for Lois again despite dating Wonder Woman in the previous film. In fact, the movie goes so far out of its way to shove Clark/Lois down the audience's throats to try and convince people that they are TRU WUV that a good 60% of this movie is Clois relationship drama that nobody gives a fuck about anyway and even less so if you dislike Clark/Lois as a couple. Which makes me wonder why they bothered to even keep it in the New 52 if they weren't going to keep one of the few nice things to come out of it.

>The rest of the League jobs super-hard to make Doomsday seem like a threat, by going at him 1-on-1 instead of all dogpiling him at once. Wonder Woman and Aquaman get shafted especially hard since they are supposed to be very near Superman's power level and thus should've put up way better of a fight. Superman himself is basically an idiot, going round for round of fisticuffs with Doomsday until he gets the bright idea to break the thing's neck, which he could've done at any fucking point and saved hundreds if not thousands of lives, especially since it's apparent early on that Doomsday is a mindless monster and thus can be killed without hesitation. At least in the original comic, Superman's only recourse was to literally punch Doomsday to death with no bullshit shortcuts that he could've done at any time.

>The dialogue is fucking horrendous. Characters talk in grand dramatic gestures and none of them feel fleshed out and like actual living beings. This goes double for Superman and Lois, who get 90% of the cringiest dialogue in the film. I get that it's written by Peter Tomasi but even he is usually better than this. And DC pulled another moment of taking a Superman/Wonder Woman dialogue and giving it to Superman/Lois.

>The animation veers between passable and The Killing Joke-tier. I don't know what the fuck happened during the production of this movie but parts of it are super-choppy, to the extent where it looks like stop-motion animation.

>And fucking finally, yet ANOTHER Death of Superman adaption because it seems like the only thing DC knows to do with the character is kill him. Yet more reason why Superman needs to become public domain because DC has been treating the character like absolute shit.

 No.1039574

>>1039528

Too much drama, yeah. There's no balance. It's like they're trying to adapt a 6 issue miniseries into a movie and forget they have a limited amount of time so in order to give every character some screen time, they overextend the introduction, cut short the action and make it pretty underwhelming.

Everyone jobbing to doomsday was a given but he was pretty unimpressive. Just a mindless hulk. He was also so sluggish Batman took no damage. Fuck that.

Can't comment on the animation or the dialogue because I saw this movie back in august.

Public domain will never happen. Just like Disney arguing they can't put Mickey Mouse on public domain because he's the face of their company, DC can say the same about Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman (And anyone from the Justice League by extension. And fucking everyone has been part of the JL at one time or another.)

When's the second part coming out? I wanna see how hard they will try to push Steel into the spotlight.
