After doing even a little bit of research, historical, geological and paleontological evidence point so strongly towards a flood that it kills me people deny it.

It takes just as much faith to trust the science textbooks, atheists have replaced God with man. They say that unless a man has discovered it and revealed it through the scientific method or archeological discovery it cannot be true. And yet the evidence is all around that God created us, that there was a flood, and that evolution is false (macroevolution, anyway). I used to believe all the lies because I was brought up in a pretty secular manner, but since coming back to Christ it's so plain to see how it was all a farce.

Old earth and no-flood is so widely pushed in every level of education, and the apparent consensus is so strong, your average thinker doesn't have any reason to doubt it. They're not being stupid, they're just not thorough.

Here's a challenge: do you treat flat Earth the same way they treat young Earth?

My problem with flat earth is that we have mathematical proof of the round earth, and you can see it for yourself easily enough. We've had astronauts go to space before, how would that be possible if the firmament was a big dome like in your picture?

The problem is a flat and round earth are things that can be observed now in nature. The historical earth is not observed, but interpreted through evidence we see now. The shape of the earth can be PROVEN now. Besides, the firmament was below land, like a layer of water beneath a shell of land, and beneath that was the mantle of the earth. If the earth was flat, wouldn't the water be displaced and removed by the land?

They would just be liars. They've been proven to falsify a moonwalk on Earth with wires, so the trustworthiness of NASA is suspect.

You really think that every single astronaut who's gone to space has just been an actor in a big hoax, and they all agreed to never reveal the man behind the curtain? Just because it can be imitated on earth doesn't mean it has only ever been an imitation.

Yes, I really do see no reason to trust NASA or the foreign space agencies. I think there is room to argue the flat/sphere question outside of that, but astronaut agencies shouldn't be part of the debate.

I'm not following the second half of your post

Let me clarify that I'm not intending to persuade you here to flat Earth, just pointing out a parallel situation with the flood debate.

They're a part of the debate because we've had people leave the firmament that is our atmosphere, it's not a big reflective dome. How can we have so many people go to space, and not a single one leaked the supposed hoax?

I don't treat flat earth the way they treat young earth, because flat earth is observably false.

Ok. Feel free to believe what you want.

I was pointing out that we, as Christians, are liable to fall into the same trap as young Earth deniers by treating an uncontested position to us as uncontestable. Flat Earth is a test case.

Pardon the crude drawing, but it shows a cross section of the globe with the firmament below the land. There were likely far fewer oceans, maybe some intermittent here and there but the crust was likely a thin outer shell (exaggerated here) floating above the waters. When the Flood occurred, "all the sources of the vast watery depths burst open, the floodgates of the sky were opened" (Gen 7v11). There was clearly water below the land. Unless the earth's crust was round like the shell of a baseball, would flat land not sink into the water below? Water is far less dense than land.

How is what you're describing reliant on a sphere shape? Why can't a circular flat Earth have water under the land?

Land in a flat Earth model is not floating on endlessly deep ocean, and the model doesn't require that they are. You're seeing a problem that isn't there.

So then what's below? infinite rock?

Besides, that's irrelevant. I'm showing that water can't free-float. Just below the picture there, there could be rock. But that's not going to stop the land from sinking onto that rock below.
