Jesus says in Matthew 5:28 "that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart"; both my copiers initially use "anyone", and then get gender specific saying "his" so I'm just going to assume Jesus meant that this applies mainly to men. Anyway, should woman coverup because they love the men around them and want to help them not sin?

This may come as a shock to a lot of people, but Muslim women get their style of dress from Christians… kinda hilarious that bottle-blonde conservathot "Christians" complain about their dress standards. They're Christian dress standards.

Standards of Modesty in Dress

Imprimatur dated Sept. 24, 1956

>A dress cannot be called decent which is cut deeper than two fingers breadth under the pit of the throat; which does not cover the arms at least to the elbows; and scarcely reaches a bit beyond the knees. Furthermore, dresses of transparent materials are improper.

The Cardinal Vicar of Pius XI

Returning to modesty is an important part of returning to tradition. Look at how people dressed in better times no matter how hot it was outside because of their dedication to Christian modesty. Disavow thots, praise modestly dressed ladies.

>Jesus says in Matthew 5:28 "that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart"

No he doesn't. That wouldn't even make sense, how can you commit adultery with a woman who isn't married? The word gynaika is wife. Notice how every other place in the bible it is used, it is translated as wife. And it isn't even looking lustfully, it is setting your heart on having her. Wanting another man's wife as your wife is committing adultery in your heart.

>Anyway, should woman coverup because they love the men around them and want to help them not sin?

Married women, yes. Young available women are free to show off what they've got to attract a husband.

Everyone used to dress modestly under Christendom including all Protestants. Amish standards of dress to this day are still sleeves that reach at least to the elbows and skirts no higher than six inches off the floor. The Puritan settlers in America hated the Catholic Church and still dressed decently.

my understanding of head coverings is that the muslims got the idea from seeing Christian women in the Byzantine empire.

Picture is empress Theodora of the Christian Byzantine Empire with her ladies in waiting. The mosaic was made before the prophet Mohammed was born. Notice how she and her ladies in waiting are all wearing headdresses. Also notice that only the empress looks directly at you, the other ladies look away because it is considered immodest for a woman to look directly into your eyes.

You don't have to dress like you just got off the mayflower. I think covering cleavage and butt will suffice, whatever is sin to you don't do etc..

a standard like this would be a huge step forward in today's world. But encouraging headcovering would probably be a good idea imo. Hair is one of the sexiest parts of a women and women will find ways to be sexual even when covered up.

Agree, they're very pretty. The Bible says women should cover their heads when praying and that we should also be praying at all times, so I see the logic groups like the Amish came to for always wearing a headcovering. At least in Church would be a good step forward.

No. If your eye tempts you, you should remove YOUR eye, not put a garbage bags on women.

I'm not opposing modest dress, but codifying a set of arbitrary rules is, indeed, typical Roman pharisaism.

It's common for people with mental illness to be unable to distinguish between thinking about doing something and the deed itself. Oh yes, and to believe they are the flesh and blood son of the creator of the universe, or, say, that by dying they will save the world from death.
