I recently heard about the theories about Jesus Christ never having existed in the first place. About how there's no evidence or documentation besides the christian media. I know this is partly an anti christian movement, but how do you factually prove the opposite? I'm scared and this puts my faith hanging on a higher cliff than before

The only thing you are going to find that isn't "Christian media" is going to be things that, rather than telling the truth, simply attack and slander Jesus like the Talmud. Even the enemies of Christ mention Him. There were also dozens of apocryphal works that claimed to be based on the life of Christ, although their claims were false. But there are plenty of other sources that are pro-Christian and so I guess, would be "disqualified" in your eyes as Christian media, even though that doesn't make sense. If Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, then anyone telling the truth about this account would have only positive things to say. It makes little sense to dismiss all the truthful sources as "Christian media." But like I said, there are also anti-Christian media, so that kind of disproves your idea anyway.

Sejanus, a man who died in AD 31, even caused the proposed deification of Christ to be rejected by the Roman Senate despite its recommendation by Emperor Tiberius, according to Tertullian's Apologeticum, chapter 5 and 21. But again, nothing is better or a replacement to just believing the Bible and the word of God. Because creation itself, as we see, testifies to the Lord's eternal power and Godhead. Psalm 19 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork."

Scripture, on which the Bible is based, is the record that God gave of his Son, as the New Testament calls it. If a man rejects that, and the witness of God, nothing else is really going to do anything to convince or change that person's mind.

Like Christ said in John 5,

"For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?"

A warlock friend of mine came up to me the other day and told me that on Netflix that had some documentary called "The Messiah" and that it said that Jesus never existed. I told him that i saw a history channel documentary about Jesus saying that there were many Jesuses but only one was crucified. Unfortunately the history channel doc was removed from youtube.

The sources to the life of Jesus Christ are about as good as the sources to the life of Julius Caesar.

Don't let your hearts be troubled.

"About how there's no evidence or documentation besides the christian media."

Not true. there is as much evidence of Jesus existence than any other notable figure of the era. Respected historians (like josephus) have reported on Jesus, there are communications between leaders of that time discussing Jesus, etc.

Denying the existence of Jesus is just a con by those that hate christianity. Jews, for instance, will be quick to claim that Jesus never existed even though their own religious texts (the talmud) speak of him.

No worries, I have been studying this period of time surrounding Jesus and up until roughly the time where some one who knew someone starts getting long.

It was a big help. Early church fathers made attempts to document as much as they could vet because the idea of a risen Lord was big news.

My personal opinion is that Isaiah set a fire and a plan that Jesus carried out, whether or not it was a divine plan and resurrection is where your faith comes in, and all the benefits and challenges that being a believer entail. It is a challenge I am not very good at doing since I am very logically oriented and only want the truth.

So, that leaves me with John, Thomas, Peter, and Mark (Peter's translator and companion). Peter's relationship to Saul is one area of study worth looking into, as well as Polycarp being a hearer of John, and what that means. It has been a wonderful mystery I can not solve but keep trying anyways. We do owe our Western Civilization to this plan carried out long ago. It was the best path forward for humanity getting out of the barbarian and tribal times.

If the historical proof for Jesus doenst do then you'd have to erase 99% of history from the books.

>About how there's no evidence or documentation besides the christian media.

First of all, that's not true: http://paxexsistovos.blogspot.com/2012/01/tacitus-suetonius-pliny-younger.html

Second of all, even if that was true, it would still prove that there was a man called Jesus

who lived in the first century and was part of a religious movement.

>B-b-but, it would be biased!

Every piece of literature is biased, and what we're talking about is the existence of someone in history, not implications of their deeds or character. This is why Jesus mythists aren't taken seriously by those who do history.
