Is there a way to activate the God gene? I’ve been trying so hard to believe in God and Jesus, but I still have doubt. I want so badly to believe.

Simple, faith can only come by hearing, and hearing comes by the word of God. So if you have been avoiding God's word, (like many people who claim to be Christian, or whatever else, do) that would quite readily explain why nothing ever happens. I would also recommend prayer to go alongside this, this is for reasons that you will see once you begin to actually consider the various things that Scripture lays out for you to accept as (absolute) truth claims.

Can you think about what makes you doubt exactly? You can be given faith if your mind is ready. If your reason commands you not to believe for some logical reason, then you have to work on this before you can have faith.
