I think I'm the only Orthodox on here that belongs to the Non-Chalcedonian Communion on here. My family is Coptic though so I was kind of born into it. I'm just going to put up an appreciation thread and a few cool pics of each Church in the communion. Feel free to discuss Non-Chalcedonian Orthodox Christianity or ask any questions. Btw we are not monophysites at all, that was a huge misunderstanding on the part of the Chalcedonian Orthodox and later Roman Catholics. We hold to St. Cyril's Miaphysite theology which is just the other side of the coin to Dyophysitism, they're just different theological expressions on the doctrine of the incarnation influenced by the fact that Non-Chalcedonian Orthodoxy is descended from the Catechetical School of Alexandria while Chalcedonian Orthodoxy (and by extension Roman Catholicism and it's few thousand Protestant breakaway sects) is descended from the Catechetical School of Antioch. There is sort of a similar situation though with the Churches of the East as they are also descended from the School of Antioch but at the time of the Council of Ephesus the Church of Alexandria had much more sway than Antioch whereas at Chalcedon it was the other way around. Nestorius might have actually been a heretic (it's hard to tell since we don't have many of his writings) but the Churches of the East that descend from him also seem to hold to the same incarnation Christology as the Ephesian Churches such as ourselves (though they still refuse to apply the title Theotokos to Mary which, even if their intentions there aren't heretical, it's still a problem since it can lead to misunderstandings about the nature of Christ). Regardless though, here's some cool pictures. Hope you enjoy. (Also can we get our own flag/banner? I remember there used to be a Coptic one on the old rendition of /christian/.)

bump

question; how do you, as a Copt, feel about EO Christians? What about Roman Catholics, or even traditional Protestants?

What is stopping you from affirming chalcedon?

OP here. Chalcedonian Orthodox are our brothers and sister in Christ, fully Orthodox of course, separated only by our communions. As for Roman Catholics, we accept their baptisms as legitimate, and see them as a legit communion, but otherwise they are considered heterodox. Protestants too are considered heterodox, and we do not accept their baptisms.

Honestly, mainly just canonical issues. For example, the reinstatement of Nestorian theologians like Ibas of Edessa at Chalcedon which we believe contradicts the decision at Ephesus, as Ibas was a clear Nestorian. There are other canonical issues I won't get into as well. Chalcedon may be Orthodox in doctrine, but for its canonical issues we cannot accept it. If the Eastern Orthodox did not make us have to accept Chalcedon as Ecumenical, then we'd happily be in full communion with them.
