I get this video on my Youtube recommendation from a pagan author. It's not very long, but basically He says the battle of 2 Kings Chapter 3 was a defeat to Yahweh by Chemosh because of a Moabite stone discovered in 1868.

>1 Kings 11:7 Then did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab,

>2 Kings 3:6And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not. 27Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.

Tell me if i missed something? do you consider this debunked, i'd like to hear /christian/'s take on this.

Here is a more neutral telling of the Mesha Stele stone.

His analysis of II Kings 3 misses one important point: Jehoshaphat is depicted as a sinner.

The main point of the Book(s) of Kings is how Israel and Judah fell not in spite of YHWH's power, but because of it. Their political loss to the Gentiles is a result of divine judgement on their sins. A decent chunk of the entire OT is all about how YHWH did not fail when Israel/Judah failed.

Sorry I'm confused, doesn't 2 Kings 3 say that Israel won against the Moabites and their King?

>2 Kings 3:26And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not. 27Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. Does not sound like God losing why, because israel lost?
