Now I say this, that each of you says, "I am of Paul" or "I am of Apollos"

>Orthodox

or "I am of Cephas"

>Catholics

or "I am of Christ"

>Protestants

Is Christ divided? Or was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?

(1 Corinthians 1:12-13)

Yes I've read it many times and fully believe it anon. Sectarians exist - People who do not follow God's word but their own only. The Lord said in Matthew 28:19-20 that they were to, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

So with that settled, was there a question for the board you wanted to ask?

I don't understand this scripture. Why is it bad to say "I am of Christ"?

If they say it in the sense of Christ being divided. The next thing Paul asked was, "Is Christ divided?"

Look at the overall context of who the speakers were arguing with and you will see what this is about. One person in the church said they were of Paul or Apollos. Another person in the same church was saying they were of Christ instead. But Christ is not divided. That is also why in Ephesians 4:5 the apostle Paul writes for us the following truth, "One Lord, one faith, one baptism."

I hope that helps you out, anon.
