According to 1 Timothy 3, Overseers and Deacons must be

>Husband of one wife

>He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church?

>He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.

>Must be above reproach, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. Moreover he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

It states the obvious. Why do so many young unmarried people take up full time church roles and positions of leadership when they clearly don't have the life experience? Also why does church leadership allow young, recent converts to take up these positions?

Not to be argumentative but this seems to be unique to roman catholics.

Church is only infallible according to faith and morals, as for 1 Timothy 3, it is disciplinary therefore modifiable, but the sentiment expressed is wise. As for a practical argument, not all the disciples or prophets were married, not even Christ. I guess if you put the bible higher than tradition like protrstants it makes sense to follow the Timothy but if youre like cathodox who put bible and tradition on virtually same level then not so much (a bishop paul? made the rule, therefore his successor can change it since its not according to faith and morals but disciplinary).

Most Catholic priests and deacons aren't "unmarried young men", nor can they be recent converts under virtually every circumstance, and women certainly can't serve in either capacity like with the Protestant churches. Scripture and (whether it's intentional or not) OP are alluding to the trend that is 20-something Millennials becoming "youth pastors", "junior pastors", or full-fledged pastors with little to no education.

Discipline is not divorced in this sense.

God on the flesh chose to wait until 30 to become a teacher, so should anyone.

Leave your ministry until you can help young men become adults. Instead pray, mature, fast, be patient and repent.

Be like Christ.

I don't think Saint Paul was saying that you had to be married with good children to become a priest or deacon.

I donno. Father's homily on Sunday was about giving to the seminary, and while I agree with that, he also mentioned that many of those applying are straight out of high school or college and couldn't afford the portion they are expected to earn themselves: $7,000/year. Sounds like they're making priest out of unmarried young men.

> Why do so many young unmarried people take up full time church roles and positions of leadership when they clearly don't have the life experience?

They are pressured to do so by individuals within the priestly orders.

> Also why does church leadership allow young, recent converts to take up these positions?

Much like the U.S. Military, they do a very poor job of educating people regarding the roles people can play in the church. The only ones who seek them out are men sent into to subvert and destroy the church, foreigners seeking to escape poverty, and those who come from families where priestly service is a family legacy.
