Is he right that the world doesn't exist to make you happy, but to awaken you?

He is not a Christian but a new age spiritualist. Only Christ awakens me.

I don't really like him because he says so little in every video and says the same thing in every video. But there might still be some things he says that are true, and they could be in agreement with Christianity.

Chasing the desires of the flesh never made anyone over 35 happy. Wine aunts are miserable, for example.

I have enemies now and it might make it a little easier to forgive if I think the purpose of the world isn't to make me happy but to awaken me. Maybe that's the meaning of Jesus on the cross, I still don't understand Christianity, including the meaning of Jesus on the cross.

Perhaps it is this attitude of searching that is holding you back. Stop looking for meaning and let it stand before you without you imposing any concept to it.

Christianity does not propose meaning and only later obedience, but obedience and afterwards its meaning. The secular world is otherwise and has trained us to be as it from the crib, it enters into strife with men to first prove that it is so, and by this demands obedience. For this reason, only in God is obedience to the will of the Father freedom. Christ on the cross is the Only-begotten Son full obedience to the Father into becoming flesh, partaking our nature, hunger, afflictions and even the sense of abandonment (My God, why have you forsaken me?) which culminate+s in the full freedom from sin of the joyous resurrection.

god is good, awaken = union with god = awaken = happiness, world is not god, god is not the world therefore world cannot make on happy.

>Stop looking for meaning and let it stand before you without you imposing any concept to it.

But it's hard to believe in something that is just words with no meaning to you. Christians on 4chan and probably elsewhere post the same few verses over and over to non-Christians, in an attempt to recruit them, but these verses are Chinese to me, I don't understand them and how can I then believe in them? I don't know whether they understand the meaning themselves. How can you even say you believe in something that you don't know what it means? It's like if someone says a sentence in a language you don't speak and then asks in English if you believe that what they just told you is true.

Doubt is not necessarily a bad place to start at. It gives you a chance to really examine the veracity of Christian claims. If you haven't examined why Christianity is Truth here is an easy to watch documentary called The Case for Christ.

The christian is supposed to be happy in adversity because he follows the example of Christ and is filled with grace.

As Pauls puts it>

Colossians 1:24

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,

Philipians 3:10

…that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,

1 Corinthians 15:31

I die daily, I protest by your glory, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2 Corinthians 12 …so that I would not become arrogant, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to trouble[h] me—so that I would not become arrogant.[i] 8 I asked the Lord three times about this, that it would depart from me. 9 But[j] he said to me, “My grace is enough[k] for you, for my[l] power is made perfect[m] in weakness.” So then, I will boast most gladly[n] about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in[o] me. 10 Therefore I am content with[p] weaknesses, with insults, with troubles, with persecutions and difficulties[q] for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

It is hard in our specific secular paradigm, it goes against the industrial thought of our age.

>How can you even say you believe in something that you don't know what it means?

Do not be bewitched by words such as belief and knowing. Look at how they are used, rather than them by themselves.

Now, since you used the examples of learning a foreign language, so shall I. I see your desire to understand a Christian life prior to embracing it similar to a desire to understand Chinese without ever listening or reading to it. I hope you see the latter as a delusion and that it may perhaps help you clear your head.

I believe the essence of Christianity will evade you if you wish to speculate rather than taste.

This post is too edgy for me. What am I supposed to do? A google image search and then study what this guy is about? Just to find out that Op didn't say anything about him because he spouts nonsense?

Other anons already pointed out that a hedonist who is damned doesn't resist temptation. No, God didn't put us here to enjoy sin. Nuff said right there.

It's Eckhart Tolle.

I'm not sure he's talking about enjoying sin or desires of the flesh, but maybe. I'm not sure but it might have been in the video below he said the world doesn't exist to make you happy but to awaken you. I'm suspected of a crime and waiting for trial, and have enemies, plus health problems, so that's the kind of things that I'm thinking of.
