Seeing as the whole pandemic s— is going on at the moment, I really do not understand why the Catholic Church is not making even the most REMOTE ATTEMPT to continue saving souls. In plagues throughout history people turned to God to be saved. Now? Now we have shut down our churches and turned AWAY from God.
More on topic, however, I want to know if there is any good reason there is no service providing confessions via phone or internet. There is no specific rite that must be done in person it seems to me. It isnt like Mass where its important to be there for Communion or something.

This article really summarizes the s— for me. People admit that yes it seems like a good idea… then instead of rebutting it say "oh but the Pope wants us to just make an act of perfect contrition instead".
This seems like such an OBVIOUS THING that we should be doing that it infuriates me. I get it if you want to close down the churches because you are afraid of a disease, but maybe while everything is shut down, the priests should be still trying to save souls instead of sitting on their behinds doing nothing!
Now what of the Pope saying his 'advice' about taking sins to God directly? Well. I am not a SAINT. I feel the need to go to confession every one to two weeks because I am an awful person and have probably racked up approx 50 sins of grave matter since the coronavirus shut down my local church? One can probably assume I am not the type to be physically able to just pull perfect contrition out my arse. I consider that advice to be completely useless to me. Blame me if you want, but I think I speak for 99 percent of earth when I say that.
So what gives? Why can we not do confessions online? Should we? Shouldn't we? I just want an answer before I resort to attempting to nail a letter to a glass door.
