Is the schism between the see of Rome and Constantinople mendable?

What would that mean for centuries of theology and saints?

>Is the schism between the see of Rome and Constantinople mendable?

I don't know, but i think so.

As someone highly interested in the subject, i have a hunch they already have a plan for how the union should function, but are being slow about it, to not cause schism.

>What would that mean for centuries of theology and saints?

They would be declared orthodox, or probably be something like the Union of Brest or the Union of Uzhhorod.

Agreeing on a basic formula, but handwaving some things with "we will listen to the teachings of our particular churches on this subject/we don't debate this subject"

>Implying it isn't already on its way to being mended

Patriarch Bartholomew and Pope Francis are bestest buds, both with each other and international J*wry. The question is, is the schism between Rome and Orthodoxy mendable? To that I would say that I certainly hope so, and I hope it would be mutually beneficial for both communions.

Perhaps it's just my natural cynicism, but something tells me that would be a sign of the end times. Like the antichrist would come from the "new unified church of pachamama" or some s—

it is possible, but the ecclesiology of orthodoxy is a problem since any bishop could reject the union even if majority accept it and then the schism would still persist but ever so smaller.

You'd probably have a ton of small schisms on both sides.

The thing is to make sure the Union is ratified in synod assembled, to make sure any dissenting bishops have no legal leg to stand on(lack of this is why Florence fell)

There is only one Body, one Eucharist, and one Christ. The schism is a condition of this world, of Earth, not of Heaven. Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant, doesn't matter in heaven, for the worldly schism will be mended and we will all be one, as the Father and the Son are One, bound together by the Love between them who is the Holy Spirit.

Wherever the Spirit is, there is the Body of Christ, for it is the Love of God which makes us One with God.

On a more practical note, Vatican II seems to have been a direct attempt at this. It's a shame that most of the Trads on all sides seem to have missed that.

As a 1/3 Polish 1/3 Ukrainian 1/3 Russian mutt it is in my belief that the Great Schism was a scheme created by the Ottoman Empire to reduce Christian hegemony in Europe. The Western Church is the legalistic branch of the Church, the Eastern Church is the mystic branch of the Church. You need both organs to function.
