He wasn't one of the best ones to be sure, but there were worse Popes. Alexander VI understood that beauty was the great evangeliser, and we owe much of the cultural wealth we enjoy today to him. Certainly not one of the most saintly Holy Fathers, but there have been worse ones.

I don't think there's an uncontroversial answer to that question. It's a bit like Final Fantasy: the worst game in the franchise is always the last one to come out. So you have the RadTrads impiously calling out Francis or Benedict XVI or John Paul II, etc. Personally I can't pick one because we've had many scandalous Popes, and some of the charges levelled against them are very, very serious, and it's hard to uncover the historical truth behind these allegations. I will leave you with this video as food for thought, I find it immensely fascinating, brother. It's especially interesting because they don't pick Alexander VI, which is a bit of a low hanging fruit and how the truth regarding his papacy is obscured by misinformation and slander.

I'd appreciate it if you listed their nominees. I see from their subscription that they nominated Stephen VI as one of the worst, but I think Alexander VI's many claims to shame beat his one. This might prove my point: I was going to say "his two claims to shame," with the Banquet of Chestnuts and his proliferation of indulgences in mind, but when fact-checking those indulgences, I found that he may have poisoned one cardinal to claim his wealth and bribed the other cardinals for the papacy. Suffice it to say that he remains a strong contender.
