That would be expectation-shattering news. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew told Pope Francis that a common date of celebration for Easter is inevitable in the future, but I assumed that the idea was that we would eventually try to adopt the Western date for Pascha.
If it's instead the Pope who decides to adopt the Eastern date for Pascha, this is expectation-shattering news. I dare say this is almost as important as if the Pope decided to make the "filioque-less" creed the norm everywhere, or decided that the councils past the 7th aren't ecumenical.
But wouldn't that make a huge mess for Catholics? I mean, Easter is the most important feast of the Church, changing the date is a very very big deal.
