Truly He is risen!

This is by far the best Easter I've ever had.

It's just a week later basically.

not always, it's different because the date of the Spring equinox is different in Gregorian and Julian calendars (March 21 I think), and the date of easter depends on that.

lurk more.

Just joking. They have a different calendary

I've heard that the Vatican was considering using the old calendar for Easter again. That'd be pretty cool, so the whole world could celebrate at once. And the new calendar can do some weird stuff to the date.

Where did you hear that??

That would be expectation-shattering news. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew told Pope Francis that a common date of celebration for Easter is inevitable in the future, but I assumed that the idea was that we would eventually try to adopt the Western date for Pascha.

If it's instead the Pope who decides to adopt the Eastern date for Pascha, this is expectation-shattering news. I dare say this is almost as important as if the Pope decided to make the "filioque-less" creed the norm everywhere, or decided that the councils past the 7th aren't ecumenical.

But wouldn't that make a huge mess for Catholics? I mean, Easter is the most important feast of the Church, changing the date is a very very big deal.

Iirc orthodox new calendarists still celebrate easter using the Julian Paschalia. So everything else is using the gregorian, but all feasts that depend on Easter are the same for new and old calendar users.
