The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

i hate living in this world. i have so much anxiety and misery and regret every choice i make. i want to live a quiet reclusive life where i have plenty of time to write and contemplate. i thought monasticism would be good for me but then i looked at what they do. They follow stringent rituals that take up most of the day. essentially they enter a chapel and repeat themselves. what is the purpose of going to church so much if you don't actually do anything other than go to church. all the ritual seems to be just a reiteration of the monotony of everyday life. the same is true of the priesthood.

1 Thessalonians

{5:16} Always rejoice.

{5:17} Pray without ceasing.

Monks are the epitome of this. They Always rejoice in everything God has given them and the pray without ceasing by praying for the whole world. Alot of wisdom can be learned from monks.

I'm sure if you talked with some they can help you out with the hate you have for God's creations, but if your -tism is indeed too strong, you can always get lost in the wilderness and become a hermit.

My advice, pray the rosary everyday and ask for decernment. Fasting two days out of the week will also help but imo won't be necessary.

You should not become a monk out of hatred of the world. Holy Orders are conferred by the Holy Spirit and God is love.

Look to the story of Saint Hugh of Grenoble.

be sure to first resolve any psychological problems with anxiety and immature cynicism so that your vocation is built upon a solid foundation

Being a monk isn't about you and what you want, it is about utter submission to the will of God and living a life solely to be in His presence.

If you have anxiety and all this you should speak to a priest or a spiritual director of some kind. Stop whining like a stupid child on the internet and actually go and fix you damn problems.

Your problems follow you to the monastery.

this board always discourages monasticism for some reason (jealousy, feelings of inadequacy perhaps?) anon, you should research different monastic orders and get into contact with a superior about you visiting. there are more communal orders like the carmelites and benedictines or more reclusive orders like the carthusians. there are also friars, like the dominicans who focus on scholarship. you should really talk about this with a priest.

Some souls are preserved from the delusions of the world, and opened to the call of God, through sorrow, disgust or social rejection.

Would such souls have sought consolation only in God, if the world had loved them? Would they have known the sweetness of God, if the world had not maltreated and banished them from its society? It is God who permits such harsh treatment and refusals to befall them. He causes thorns to spring over all their pleasures, in order to prevent their reposing thereon. They would never have belonged to God, had the world desired them; and they would have been adverse to Him, had the world not been adverse to them. It is thus that the Lord breaks the fetters, by which the world held them in bondage.

this goes over it's benefits

Religous life is objectively superior to non-religous life

No.

His problems will double tenfold in a monastery.

Monks are not on vacation in heaven simulation resort 24/7. Their warfare is spiritual, and severe.

Virgins who are frustrated with themselves, go on imageboards are not good candidates for monks, usually.

Don't be a coward - God did not put you into this hectic world during this time for nothing. Do not fear the future - seize it.

>this board always discourages monasticism

That's because 90% of the threads made about monasticism are by someone who is going to the monastery to "escape the world" rather than to serve God.
