>They pick and choose which teachings to follow, because they don't have faith that they live by, they just have a set of opinions that they live by which sometimes match up to things in the Bible
As a former Prot, you couldn't be more accurate.
<see this old testament verse about tithing? that means you're required to tithe
<let me just gloss over these new testament verses about how drunkards will not inherit the kingdom of God, women should cover their heads in church and submit to their husbands, and marriage is between a man and a woman, because they make me really uncomfortable
But uhh SAVED THROUGH FAITH ALONE, amirite? Our salvation is guaranteed just for believing in Jesus, guys! Sola scriptura… but only the scripture I like… daily reminder that the separation of Church and State was a mistake.
>"I'm Christian, but I disagree with the Bible on homosexuality, people are born that way."
You have people stooping lower than that even… I've heard some say, in all seriousness, that "homosexuals" in Jesus' time really meant "priests that raped children in the synagogues". The mental gymnastics modernists perform are truly incredible sometimes.
>you have to submit fully to every teaching, ESPECIALLY the ones you don't like, because those are the ones that will keep you out of heaven, that will keep you from seeing the face of god
Yep. While I still have plenty of faults (e.g. slothfulness), I've allowed myself to be reformed by the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church in many other areas, but unfortunately Evangelicals are just too arrogant. They become outraged over someone criticizing Trump, Israel, or their favorite celebrity, but couldn't care less when Christians in the Middle East are persecuted.
