Gregorian calendar is said to be slightly more accurate than the Julian calendar (i.e. of Julius Caesar).

If you really want to be afrocentric roots about it you should look into the Ethiopian and Coptic calendar which might likely have also been reformed to correlate with Julian dates.

Yeah, I wasn't really aware of the difference but it still doesn't appear to have prevented old calendarist schisms from happening.
