The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

I know to this board I might seem like another person going through a crisis in his faith, and I know people on here like to insult me and mock me, but if there's anyone who cares about someone who's seeking Christ and who's faith is shaken, please hear me out as a brother

I've read the New Testament, it was all going well and was sensical, I felt like I was getting closer to God until I came to Revelation

It just… seems so nonsensical, like the ramblings of a madman, if someone on the street saw you reading verses of it who hasn't read it before, they would think you're completely insane. And it sounds that way from the old attributes to someone in a modern society.

So please, help someone who wants to believe in God with all his heart, soul and mind come to a sense of what it's teaching, if you can give me resources to help me, it's really been something on my mind.

Hey anon, Revelation is a work of mystic art.

Watch this, I don't care if you're non-catholic or not.

Revelation REALLY isn't for the lay (not an insult).

Revalation when looked at correctly should tug on your heart strings, and a melody of faith will entrench into your soul. It's very reaffirming.

Revelation is a deeply symbolic text. It's not meant to be understood by plain reason but you must be well versed by its language.

Revelation is non linear, and some passages refers to the individual judgment of the soul (the first resurrection) while others talk about the last judgement of all mankind (the descend of the celestial Jerusalem) and some seem to refer to events that already happened or might happen (the fall of satan on earth) or both

It's okay if you don't get everything. Just remember a few key points :

>God will reject the lukewarm (3:16)

>satan will bring the antechrist to falsely unite mankind (13:11) the antechrist can be both a system or an individual incarning it

>Christ will come back on earth to destroy darkness once and for all (19:11)

>Everybody will be resurrected and judged according to their deeds, and the chosen ones will inherit the new earth and Jerusalem (20:11)

>Creation will be made anew (the 21st chapter of revelation… following the 22nd)

>Revalation when looked at correctly should tug on your heart strings, and a melody of faith will entrench into your soul. It's very reaffirming.

Basically this.

Correction :

"the chosen ones will inherit the new earth and Jerusalem"

This is in the 21st and 22nd chapters.

The authority of revelation is the same as all other 65 books and should be interpreted the same way

When John says "this is the revelation of Jesus Christ" you're to believe it.

When it says certain events will happen, and you can identify that they haven't yet, you should expect them in the future.

Revelation almost wasn't included in the Church Canon exactly because of this.

It was written by John the Theologian when the Roman Empire was cracking hard on Christians and is by far the most controversial book.

Try not to dabble on jewish sources and non-traditional interpretations or you'll end up thinking it's about communist aliens like that weird Gorbachev book.

It's about the triumph of God's Kingdom over our own wickedness, that's all we need and more than we deserve.

Don't ask these types of questions on 8chab Christian board or any chan site for that matter. As much as you might think it's lame or the chans have forced you to think that they're but this type of question is more appropriate for a website like Reddit. Their Christian community is very loving and meek and isn't full of pseuds and try hards but real honest Christians. /Christian/ is only really good for arguments or something.

There's a reason that Revelation didn't enter the Byzantine Christian Bible for good until the 6th century. In fact it didn't even enter the Georgian Bible until the 12th century. It's not even considered fully canonical in the Assyrian tradition - it's read today but otherwise it's completely absent from liturgical tradition.

Revelation is an apocalypse, a mystical vision full of symbolic imagery. See the book of Daniel as well. But Revelation is also written very poorly. Imagine a foreigner trying to describe a fever dream in English and you'll see why it's such a strange book.

However, I'm not sure what you're asking exactly. What the book is about? It's about the gospel, it describes (symbolically) events of the 1st century and gives them a cosmic echo to lead to the final judgement.

There's that Christian welcome we've all come to know and love. What do you do when you see a new face in church? Oh, never mind, I doubt you've ever set foot in a church and call it "social anxiety".
