I don't think all viruses are punishments. Job was inflicted with all sorts of sicknesses, but it wasn't a punishment for anything he did. Ultimately, we don't really know why God sends calamity when he does. Regarding your specific viruses listed, I think HIV is most likely a punishment on homosexuals, Ebola is not a punishment on Muslims, and the black death is not a punishment for anything. Again though, I can't really know, that's just my guess.

You are wrong. Using a needle contaminated with HIV is actually the only surefire way to get infected other than getting a blood transfusion from HIV infected blood.

By needle attacks I mean a person using a contaminated needle (like a sewing needle or something smaller than a full syringe) and randomly and secretly prick others in public places or places them pointed upside on a seat in theatres. Reasons being the virus itself does not survive air for too long as far as I know, correct me if I am wrong.

Viruses don't only serve a hostile purpose, they can also be used to inject new genetic code into the germline. If God wanted to roll out a new patch for the human codebase, He would use retroviruses.

Yes and yes. HIV cures are a proof that science is not always good. HIV is meant to eradicate faggots and serial adulterers, i.e. people who anyway deserve the death punishment according to the Bible.

If we're going to accept this logic wouldn't it come next that death and earthly suffering are also punishments?

Call me a brainlet, but my addled Catholic-drifting-Orthodox brain understands death to be the point at which you put your pencil down and hand in your paper; if you've lived as a Christian should you should have no dread of death. Suffering and hardships are part of our fallen world; Adam and Eve's sin let death and dying into the world and we've been feeling the repercussions ever since. Apart from that, the earthly consequences of sin lead to pain for the sinner and those around him, don't they? So, why are we looking at God as the culprit at all?
