Should everyone have access to a Bible?
The technology wasn't always there until the printing press. Essentially there was only a handful in existence, they were written in Latin, and only a handful of people actually comprehended what it said. (someone please correct me on the specifics and dates of this, but this is the gist of it) The rest of normal every day people and peasants just got secondhand information from these middlemen.
The Word is still difficult for most to understand, and this hierarchy still kind of exists, with the edicts of Catholicism being delivered by interpreters for the scripture for people with basic faith/sin questions. It can be seen on this board.
I can see that men, leaders, and teachers have a responsibility to share what they understand with their discretion.
Can this responsibility be entrusted to individuals?
Pic unrelated.
