Hey, Guys i recently got into C.S Lewis 6 Months ago and it's been a wild ride of question and honest searching. But now i'm looking to get into G.K Chesterton which i've seen some people mention here. But just Wondering, i was watching a quick skit of the two in this vid related. And wanted to know, is the a fairly representation of Nietzsche and Chesterton?

People in the comments are saying it's not. Which, i guess you get what you put in, it's only a skit, and books do more justice, if that's what's happening here. Thanks in advance for any responses from any other anons who've been searching or are honestly making an attempt at searching.

It's really not that accurate. Both of their philosophies were much more complex than that. Another thing is that Chesterton only ever made passing references to Nietzsche as an example of what's wrong with modern intellectuals. He never tried to write a proper refutation against Nietzsche's criticisms of philosophy(read Max Scheler's Ressentiment for that) because he didn't think Nietzsche's writings had any real substance and therefore found it difficult to take him seriously.

Do not ever fall into the habit of taking quotes out of context

>"God is dead"

<"God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?"

Nietzsche is not a misanthropic Machiavellian but a deeply despaired man. More humorous and unsubstantial than anything.

Well, is it true that Nietzsche spent the last years of his life in an insane asylum.

Ah Nietzsche, the guy behind every edgy pagan/pol/fag who says Christianity is too weak for the white man, while also screaming about “muh forced conversions”

Interestingly Nietzsche didn’t actually hate Jesus himself, he just thought that he was too roundabout in his teachings and that like every other heretic it seems Paul was to blame for Christianity becoming sissified.

Max Scheler wrote a book basically saying Nietzsche didn’t understand actual Christianity called Resentment, although he was by no means the only one who blew Fred the WTP out.
