Christchan is back up after maintenance! The flood errors should now be resolved. Thank you to everyone who submitted a bug report!

I'm happy to tell you guys that I brought my drinking down to two beers a night, only when I'm with friends. I was a lukewarm christian, but I'm getting warmer every day.

God bless!

I wish could I control my desires. Anyways, congratulations in elevating your addition. May we all become more reliant to our Lord.

Good work, anon! Pray for strength to finish what you've started–almost always the hardest part.

I'll be praying for you!

I struggle with drinking too, not to an alcoholic or anything but I find it difficult to moderate once I am in a pub.

Remember, we are told by scripture that no man will be tempted past what he is capable of refusing. I was able to stop getting drunk very easily just by getting closer to the Lord.

I know I have much to work on, but fully accepting that God is perfect a few days ago made it so much easier to quit getting hammered.

I appreciate the prayers, but I believe two beers is fine. 3 cups of wine is the Catholic standard. I've yet to hear you guys explain how drinking is forbidden when Jesus's first miracle was to turn water into wine.

I had this same issue, and drinking is entirely social for me. I don't drink alone, but when I hung out with my friends, I found it difficult to stop. I'm now finding more solace in sobriety, and recently my knowledge of theology has improved as well. I'm lucky to have friends who at least are always interested in me talking about the bible, and I'm even better at it now that I'm not smashed.

Misunderstood you, I thought your OP was to say you were trying to cut it out entirely. Some people believe that Jesus made grape juice, I don't.

Keep up the fight, cathobro. I was heavy into the grape before I cut it out as an offense to my faith, a la Matt 18:8.
