I went to church once or twice with my friend's family as a kid but have never been part of a church. I've been reading the Bible and about the Bible a lot recently and I'd like to go to a church to learn more but I have no idea how to go about it? Do I just show up? What kind of church do I go to?

>Do I just show up?

why not

>What kind of church do I go to?

probably avoid megachurches but it wouldn't hurt to try one if you really want to

I would try to figure out where I align on doctrine with most other churches if I were you. Since you've been reading the Bible (hopefully all of at least one of the gospels by now) you should have some ideas about who Christ is and what He stands for.

Baptist

Roman Catholic Church in full communion with Rome. Do not take the Eucharist until you have been baptized/confirmed in the faith.

How can anybody advise another to join a "baptist" association in good conscience? Why throw out over a millennium of history, while contradicting the early Church on all points? To satisfy your pride?

Check locally and read up a bit on one that makes the most sense to you. There's a ton more Baptist and Methodist churches where I live than Catholic, but the extra 20 minutes of driving makes it worthwhile for me because the doctrine is more sound especially since my parish is one of 4 in the entire state that does extraordinary mass

nononono you see the church became corrupt 0.00001 seconds after it was founded until Prophet Luther (pbuh) finally restored it fifteen centuries later just don't question it and believe what I say look you can praise the lawd and not feel guilty about committing grave sins because you're already saved haha just read your KJV and NEVER read any of the early church writings because it's all corrupt papist nonsense

Yep.

>What kind of church

Oh, you know, the one that offers the simplest path to salvation without making you actually do anything uncomfortable or difficult or that makes you have to, you know, take an active part in your own salvation. The OSAS crowd should do nicely.

There's no need for confirmation in order to receive Eucharist. He only need Penitence and Baptism.

Ah, you're right.

>However, an adult, Baptized non-Catholic who wishes to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church is not strictly required to go through RCIA. The Church allows a streamlined process for candidates who are sufficiently disposed (in the opinion of the Pastor)

Still, OP should check with the Priest just in case.

The best.

They do however have some variances, you should check whether the Church is more traditional or more into Protestant-like music services (guitars, drums, etc).

Met. Hilarion's Orthodox Christianity series or Staniloae's dogmatics are better introductory materials.
