I feel the same way OP, i wish Satan would have been imprisoned for a least an eternity rather than 1000 tiny years. Not that it would have removed man's ability to harm himself and others.

You are basically asking to simply eradicate free will in us, to be merely robots. Whats the point of this? What point would our life have?

You can ask this to Allah, due to fact, that Humans don have free will according to Islam, but Christianity says, that Humans are made in Image and Likeness of God, that includes free will.

Asides this, about "mysterious ways", You are created being, existing in time. Only being outside time is God, and I think He knows stuff that we cannot foresee.
