Since it's that time of the year again
What is christmas for you, christanon?
9b4970 No.568327
It means maximum comfy and lovely Christmas songs. Not only that, I find Christmas an opportunity to reconcile with God, after perhaps drifting toward sin throughout the year. It's a reminder of the good news.

I get to spend time with my famil- oh… I don't have a family…
My most hated time of the year tbh. Secular society has taken Christmas for itself and turned it into a satanic den of vipers, a corporate commercial and nothing more.
I'll celebrate the Nativity with my brothers and sisters in Christ then I'll enjoy my break to pray & read.

Aside from the obvious celebration of the birth of our Lord and saviour. For me, it is that one day the people around the world smile, both give and receive joy, and celebrate in each others company in the dark of the midwinter surrounded by warmth and light.
It is both our tribute, reminder, and surrounder to the Lord and the Lords gift unto us. Perfectly, a spirit of Christmas as we both love
and be loved.

This is Sinterklass.
Notice his Christian atire
Now think of Santa Claus, who attire is notably lacking in Christian themes.
Basically America has secularised Christmas

I was thinking of making a thread about christmas music myself, but this one will do just fine. My favorite of the new stuff has to be Mary Did You Know? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlJdrUetqGw
but otherwise everything made recently is utter trash and I hate that the radio only plays the same 3 secular songs on repeat.

You can thank Coke for that.

I feel conflicted. I don't feel like spending Christmas with my secular family at all. I'm considering signing up with the local salvation army to ring the bells or something like that. I just know I feel trapped and want to get out.

I know that feel bro.
Family is already moaning at me for not doing the gift opening with them, and instead going to church. I said we could do it before, but for some reason they've already planned it exactly when they know I have to go to church….

This
Not about family part, I have a lovely one, but my favourite part of the Christmas is spending a night and serving in the church.
Oh wait, I remember now, we use A DAMN OLD CALENDAR STILL and because of this we will celebrate it on 7th January with Russians and Serbs only and all this while singing Christmas songs with lyrics "on 25th December, Christ was born in Bethlehem"

Basically >>568327; comfy music, comfy food, comfy film and TV, comfy church aesthetic.
It's also a nice time for me to reflect on the power of God's love for me, I sin constantly so the story of how God was willing to lower himself for my sake is awesome inducing.

Old calendar is better, we get to enjoy a calm and comfy Christmas after all the consumerist holiday mania has calmed down. The days leading up to the 25th of December are unbearable, the inner city is crowded, everyone is rushing. It's best to leave the house as little as possible during that time.

1. Has slaves working in a frigid prison to produce goods
2. Red communism

Here is one historically attested event that may have been the Star of Bethlehem. The order of Magi founded by the prophet Daniel would have been renowned astronomers, and likely were closely watching the sky for the sign prophesied by Daniel.
At the same time that Jupiter (symbolic of royalty) was in Aries (symbolic of Judea), Saturn was also in the same area of the sky. This would signify the birth of an immortal, divine king. 6 B.C. is also very close to Jesus actual date of birth in 5 B.C.
This astronomic event was significant enough to the astronomers of the day that it was commemorated on the coin pictured.

4e880d No.576065

Yes. December 25th comes from vandalization of the Winter Solstice (the more we desecrate pagan holy days, the better). It's more likely that He was born sometime around the end of September.
