So I recently purchased a bible and have been going through it and reading sections but I realized it feels kind of directionless since I’m new at this. I’m a non believer but I have a desire to accept Christ into my life it’s just getting there. I was wondering if anybody would be interested in talking with me and helping me push my current belief system and help me question and also guide me. I’ll post my contact info if anyone is willing and wanting to help.

Start with the Gospels. Matthew, Mark, John, and Luke. Then Acts. Then finish the rest of the New Testament EXCEPT for Revelation. Then go back to Genesis and read the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

Look into the darkness. Do you see light?

If yes, the that is Christ.

Christians received doctrine from the Apostles and their disciples. Today we have their successors in the Catholic Church. You need guidance, like everybody. The best thing would be to ask a priest to guide you so you can eventually start receiving the sacraments.

If you have any questions I'd be happy to help.

Need to say a little more than that if you want to lead someone into Christ.

(2 Corinthians 11:12-15)

{12} "But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

{13} For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

{14} And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

{15} Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

>>567428

>Today we have their successors in the Catholic Church.

>received doctrine from the Apostles

(Romans 4:5)

"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."

99670b No.567432

>>567430

I did not mention justification at all. All Apostolic Churches (Catholic, Orthodox, Coptic, Syriac) have Apostolic doctrine that the Apostles taught. As far as I know, protestants don't have it nor do they have the sacraments.

2 Timothy

>[13] Hold the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me in faith, and in the love which is in Christ Jesus.

1 Timothy 6:20

>O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,”

So on and so forth.

Out of curiosity, why would you encourage someone to read John before reading Luke?

sure. You must realize Christ built a church, the Catholic Church, outside of which there is no salvation. all religions are deficient except for the Catholic religion, because they do not lead to salvation. the Bible is a product of Sacred Tradition which was assembled near the end of the fourth century A.D. by the Catholic magisterium, which is guided by the Holy Spirit to be infallible. This is how we know the books in the Bible are the words of God. Since it is a product of Sacred Tradition, it cannot be the sole means of doctrine and the Bible must be interpreted in the light of that Tradition, instead of man-made traditions (inspired by Satan, really) that date a few centuries. all the dogmas of the Catholic Church are found implicitly or explicitly inside the Bible.

I think you should read the Gospel of Matthew and then of John and then acts of the apostle. while reading Matthew, keep in mind that this is a historical book. Someone that so believed what he wrote as the truth, that he died for the Truth. and remember that you are reading the words of God while reading the Bible.

the only way we can know God is if he lifts

us up to Him, so you must humiliate yourself and pray him to bring you to the Truth.

I encourage you to come on discord And ask questions there, but it would be much better if you talked to someone in person.

You can find a priest to talk to on here.

Different anon, but the internally stated purpose of the book of John is to convince the reader to believe on Jesus, "and that believing ye might have life through his name." A lot of missionaries/evangelists will start newcomers and converts out with John and Romans.

29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Forgot to add, that you should take time out of your day to contemplate God and yourself. Stop all distractions and look into yourself. The reason people have abandoned the faith in such large numbers today, is not that it is less believable with scientific advancement, it is more, we have much more evidence than many Christians have had, it is that people can distract themselves all day long now without trouble. Earlier times, you had to face how miserable you were because of your sins, so they turned to God. Today, well you know what people do today. these distractions will disconnect you from God and you won't hear His voice.

so take a good 20 minutes every day to do that, and I would recommend praying a decade of the Rosary ( you don't need the beads to do it, it just helps) every day and thinking about God first thing in the morning and last thing when you go to bed.

Because Luke and at least the fire half of acts share the same author, so the transition from the Gospel accounts to the aftermath flows much better that way I think.

Also, traveling, so different ip probably

After coming to the conclusion and accepting the whole Bible as truth, God gifted me deep faith.

While you should definitely read the Bible, the Didache lists all of the key points of the Christian faith. It was used before the New Testament was completed to give people a quick rundown of Christianity. If you want in depth metaphysical and philosophical arguments for the existence of God and the validity of Christianity, try Thomas Aquinas and some of the early Church Fathers. All of their writings are available for free online.

That might not be such a good idea. Most people here probably wouldn't do anything harmful with that information, but you're still on an image board. There's always a chance that some lurker would use that info to fuck with you.

I'm not the person you were talking to, but his story sounds like mine.

I found these videos helpful:

Some things that got me to question evolution:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5qJYwfAju8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5EPymcWp-g

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM-rOW7C6Xo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5DNvYMtkyk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fS9ixfQ_no

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lktmmd7YnD8

The key thing here imo is to get people to look and hear what others are saying. When their interest is peaked, they'll start searching for truth. The complexity of a cell is astonishing, things in the past were bigger, there are things science can't explain (I think Lloyd Pye and Graham Hancock are good at raising these questions).

Some more things that showed me what's in the Bible and how it relates to the world:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMA41EVDhqw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtBz1roiQR8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24jmPeN9jbo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8g7Dj18YE0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fKrFeX8dRY

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc_J2k4Cdp8

Then relating the Bible to the phenomenon we see in the world, we see it fits. (I think Trey Smith, Kent Hovind and Chuck Missler are good finding some relations)

f40f1d No.567953

The Church is not merely the Bible and the stone of the temples, it is people. Go and meet Christians first, start participating in their life. You cannot be Christian by sitting at home and reading the Bible. being Christian is an active thing, it is participation in a community of other Christians and mutual faith in Salvation.
