Long post ahead, but I'd be very happy if you read it.
I was born into a Christian family, so naturally, I carry their beliefs. I believe that God exists, and I pray to him about very basic things. But beyond that, I have no connection with God. I might as well be an athiest.
And perhaps the biggest problem; I dislike Christianity in general. I don't like church culture. I don't like it at all. I don't like being with other christians either, because they're usually super sheltered and think the internet is made by satan. You know, the type of people who think you will go to hell for swearing.
But just recently, I discovered /christian/. Considering it's on 8chan, I knew there was no way this community was full of the kinds of christians you'd find at your good ol' church.
The first thing I notice is that people are using words like "Shit" and "Fuck" in their posts. Christians who don't think swearing is a sin? Now this is what I call a miracle.
This may be the best place for me to ask for advice. How do I get closer to God, despite my dislike for all these religeous things in general? And do any of you agree with me when it comes to my thoughts of modern day christians?
