The mustard seed is not the smallest seed. Did Jesus lie here?

Why does Jesus say the wrong name here? He is obviously referring to Ahimelech. Is Jesus forgetful?

Jesus was not comparing the mustard seed to all other seeds in the world, but to seeds that a local, Palestinian farmer might have “sowed in his field,” i.e., a key qualifying phrase in verse 31.

Your claim defies common sense. There are a multitude of verses in the Bible about birds dying. Nobody in there right mind would think that God meant to say that birds are immortal. Birds die sometimes, obviously the majority survive which is why they are still around–and which is also his point.

We can both be autistic then. If you actually read the verse it doesn't even say that birds never starve. It says that God feeds them. If even some of the birds are fed then that statement is fulfilled.
>Matthew 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Are birds fed? Yes, otherwise they would all die. Do all birds die? No, because they are fed.

Because it was His will to do so. Just as it is our will to see how our children will respond to situations knowing that they will fail, we do so because that is what it means to grow, to learn, to exercise one's free will, and to take responsibility for our actions.

Not an atheist but I'll try anyway. According to the ESV annotation, 'a penny' refers to Greek assarion, Roman copper coin (Latin quadrans) worth about 1/16 of a denarius (which was a day's wage for a laborer). Blimey, that sounds expensive, seeing as I doubt anyone would want to buy a live sparrow. And seeing as once you have a wicker trap made, the sparrows should basically take no labour. It's also possible for laborers to be horrifically underpaid at that time, which would even it out. Also, according to one bible commentary that I read, the word assarion could mean simply not much money (which is exactly what the verse is supposed to mean, saying that God has power over when worthless things), rather than an exact amount. Like how I'd call something a dime a dozen without literally meaning that it is around $0.00833333333

God does not lead man to sin, but He does lead them to temptation. It's not God's fault man fails usually, and it's always implied man could always have chosen otherwise. Even the Jews, Judas are held responsible because they didn't have to be the ones to fulfill the betrayal and crucifixion of Christ.
