Does anyone even know why they included that newspaper of magazine that said Hitler was found at the beginning? It doesn't even make much sense from an exposition standpoint.

I think it was to establish the magazine he worked for was a tabloid rag, willing to publish anything no matter how nonsensical. The kind of magazines that Weekly World News parodies.

I think that time traveling is honestly one of the worst things that you could feature in your movie from a narrative standpoint. Directors tend to utilize it inappropriately in the plot so they can include emotional sequences without any repercussions, thereby preventing the story from evolving. The only successful implementation of time travel in cinema is Twelve Monkeys.

Actually now that I think about it, why was the female officer's kid taken as hostage to make her get serious about stopping the alterations in history? And secondly, is the movie trying to imply that because the coin got dropped it is the first time that a historical disaster was ever prevented? Or am I just trying to think too much about the plot of one of the movies that is in the glory pile. Hell it isn't even all that offensive plot wise, compared to some other shit.
