Sup bro, just here to give some feedback like you asked on /sudo/. Hopefully I'll be watching the movies on anniversary night, the fact that they're on earlier is a big plus.

About the normal nights, I'm a bong so your movies start at 2am for me. I don't know what to suggest about changing the time. Eastern US time is an hour closer to me than central. I don't know about other euro bros though.

Thanks for taking the time to make a reply here.

So it is a 6 hour gap like I thought. What time (in your TZ) would work best in your case: 10 PM, 11, or midnight?

Not to say I'll immediately change it, but if I get enough data for a good time to benefit bongland, I'll be more comfortable in making a decision on it.

Cheers pal.

You guys should really start advertising around 8chan, not just by buying ads but physical invitations to boards too. Play some movies related to the boards who you invite to entice them.

I've been wanting a board like this for years, something like /tv/'s GoT stream without needing a cancerous show to watch. What time do these things normally start? As a bong I could manage into the AM on a saturday but only on that day.

Noted, I'll add it to the next thread, but please remind me if I do forget this.

The regular start time is Saturdays at 1AM UTC (8 PM CST), with a (usually) half hour preshow before the main show begins.

If you want more euro anons you could think about pushing it forward an hour (that'd be 2-3am in EU times during the summer) but it's more important that you always stick to one time I'd say.

hey /bmn/ I'm totally new here and I'm really happy this board exists but I have loads of questions

how does /bmn/ even do things? why movies only saturdays? what would happen if someone wanted to host a stream on some other day that isn't saturday? how do I watch movies with you guys? is it that type of stream that has a chat next to it or are we all watching in complete silence without being able to say anything during a scary or funny scene in the movie?

what's the right way to do things here? I want to do right by you guys and not be a dick.

/bmn/ has a dedicated host who runs the stream every week and does light commentary, and I keep a consistent schedule. I've been doing this since August 2016, and the usual time at Saturday worked out the best for the audience and myself at the time. I'm always looking for feedback on this, but I also try to keep it consistent. The usual affair is 3 movies every movie night, save for the occasional event or marathon.

The streams are viewed through cytube (or infinity.moe) so chat's are available to shitpost in with other anons. All you have to do is kick back, relax and shitpost with anons while the show runs. The links to the streams are provided in each movie night thread on this board; they're usually pinned as well.

Feel free to ask anymore questions. I'll be happy to answer them.

>There's too many bad movies, especially ones where furry mascots sing

I strangely agree with this. I know this is a dumb suggestion considering the obvious fact that this is /bmn/ "bad movie night" and the whole point is to show bad movies, but I'll give my idea anyways in case BO likes it as an "every once in a while thing" to change things up without ruining the original intended purpose of /bmn/.

here is my idea:

>some special nights, instead of watching entire really long bad movies that are 99% boring content, there could be clips of the best funny or most stupid moments from a large collection of "glory bin" previously watched bad movies that we actually enjoyed. this way, we don't have to watch hours long content of sleep inducing material to finally get to the single good part of the movie.

>some other special nights, we can maybe actually watch good movies together?!??? I really like "Knowing" with nicholas cage and terminator 1 and 2. maybe we could watch those together sometimes?

>some other nights: we watch porn. I dunno? I just thought I would ask.

these are just ideas. so, yeah! I tried.

I thank you for the feedback anon. As for your suggestions:

>Limit commentary only to laughter

>Clip shows

I'm not interested in doing either of these. If you want a clipshow, Youtube would be a better option.

>Good Movie Night

Good films are much more subjective in terms of defining what belongs and doesn't, compared to bad films. I prefer bad movies anyway. Schadenfreude is great when there is little consequence.

>Lewd Movie Night

This would be even more subjective in taste to stream, not to mention most stream services will ban for pornography.

>Moving start back an hour.

This is something I am considering although I need to see how it works with my current NA audience before I will commit to a time shift. Keep in mind, I've had this start time for nearly two years. Shifts like that are awkward for everyone if done poorly.

>modified "good movie night" idea: what if we made a bunch of suggestions of our favorite opinion based "good" movies and then they got added to a "vote bucket" sort of list where then everyone would vote in the thread or in a pol that didn't allow multivote cheating or something to vote for the "good movie" that everyone wanted to see the most? the rest of the unwatched "good" movies would just remain in the vote bucket until eventually watched or something. let me know what you think?

If he bumps it up 2 hours who is to say that there won't be people complaining that it's too early? Keep in mind as well, he lives in the US, with a (presumably) mostly US audience, hosted on US-based websites, you can't expect him to bend over backwards for people half a world away. "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time." I'm alright with him moving the time, but he obviously wont be able to cater to everyone. A small piece of advice: don't work Sundays, then you have all of Saturday night open for bad movies.

>>521

I somewhat agree, he can be hard to understand when he gives mid-movie commentary, however I disagree that he should limit his commentary to laughter only because he often gives some pretty decent insight and exposition. For example, I loved his anecdote about how he won that Chuck E. Cheese movie in a competition when he was little. He wouldn't have been able to share that story in nearly the same way if he limited himself to text alone. I think it would be better if he simply turned up the volume on his mic just a tiny bit, or try to give his commentary during the quieter scenes so we can understand him better.

>>522

>there could be clips of the best funny or most stupid moments from a large collection of "glory bin" previously watched bad movies that we actually enjoyed

He does that in the pre-show and between movies, there's also the celebration/marathon nights where OP picks movies from the 'glory pile.'

>we can maybe actually watch good movies together?!??? I really like "Knowing" with nicholas cage

I don't, I thought Knowing was terrible, so it's like OP said here >>523 that 'good' movies are often a more subjective category. If we did do this, we would have to limit it to classics like the Terminator movies or Robocop or something similar.

>some other nights: we watch porn. I dunno?

I actually like this one. Porn movies often have laughably bad –or sometimes legitimately funny– acting, so if we could get away with it, it could actually be a lot of fun.

>>524

This is a much better idea, but I think even if OP did decide to go ahead with 'good movie night' I think it should be rare. Good movies can be watched and enjoyed at any time, and doesn't require communal viewing to make it fun. Bad Movie Night, on the other hand, is special. How often are you able to get together with a group and poke fun at low-budget junk films these days?

I agree. I want to hear him talk but as long as it's easy to understand. if it's a loud scene I rather OP type the message for clarity reasons, but otherwise I like it when OP laughs no matter when in the movie it is.

>He does that in the pre-show and between movies, there's also the celebration/marathon nights where OP picks movies from the 'glory pile.'

I know but I mean like instead of

>99 minutes of shit

>1 minute of really good or funny moments

we could have

>99 minutes of edited best moments from a bunch of movies

just an idea.

>I don't, I thought Knowing was terrible, so it's like OP said here >>523 that 'good' movies are often a more subjective category. If we did do this, we would have to limit it to classics like the Terminator movies or Robocop or something similar.

I don't know why people thought knowing sucked, it really stuck a special place in my heart but I also don't get why people enjoyed robocop. I really liked the concept but I hated the execution for some reason even though it has a very fun 80's type of cheesy feel. robocop to me is a fun "bad movie" but you're right that everyone is different, but thats why I suggested the voting idea.

>some other nights: we watch porn. I dunno?

>I actually like this one. Porn movies often have laughably bad –or sometimes legitimately funny– acting, so if we could get away with it, it could actually be a lot of fun.

Oh I see, so you're talking like those cheesy softcore pornos with bad acting right? the only let down is the laughably disappointing lack of actual spicy content.

I enjoy watching bad movies with anonymous internet friends for the same reason I would enjoy watching good movies with anonymous internet friends. >just an idea.

I see what you're saying. This could actually be a decent idea in the future, but I think in order for it to work, the glory pile needs to be at least a bit larger than it is now. At the same time, OP said he didn't feel like making a clip show, so it might have to be an idea to keep tucked away until OP (or someone else) feels like putting it together.

>Oh I see, so you're talking like those cheesy softcore pornos with bad acting right?

Sort of. Either that, or hardcore pornos that are edited/censored.

>the only let down is the laughably disappointing lack of actual spicy content.

Maybe, but if we did do this, it wouldn't be for the sake of the pornographic content itself. It would be solely for the sake of laughs, rather than hard-ons.

>I enjoy watching bad movies with anonymous internet friends for the same reason I would enjoy watching good movies with anonymous internet friends. That's understandable, and good movie night could be fun. Keep in mind, however, that OP has been running Bad Movie Night for the past 2 years, so such a sudden change so quickly simply wouldn't happen. If GMN does happen, it would likely be very occasional, at least in the beginning. Aside from that, I am with OP that I am a bit more partial to the bad movies, so I personally wouldn't want to overdo a 'Good Movie Night' if it does happen.

/r9k/ wants to do a movie night so I'm going to put on a couple of movies at midnight tonight. I thought it would be up your alley BO so I'm putting it here. Bad horror or science fiction movie for sure.

You can find the channel in the "lets play a game together" thread since I don't want to advertise here.

Vaughn has a no hate speech rule. You're just asking to get shoahed at any time if you're using it.

Currently, /bmn/ doesn't have a board-tan. Certainly open to the idea of the board having one, but I'm no drawfag.

I'm more worried about stream technical issues over someone getting offended on Vaughn's site. I think we'll be alright, but we'll see.

Watched yesterday for the first time. Enjoyed it and will watch again. At first I was a bit annoyed by the guy who talked over the movie but I quickly grew fond of him. Gives you that cinema feeling where there's always a guy who thinks he has to comment on everything.

I salute you and your good work /bmn/

I was considering starting a couple of movie nights in /argentina/ as we found ourselves with some good films to watch, if somewhat old or obscure at times, and not necessarily in spic language.

My question is, besides registering and such, how is vughnlive about copyr1ght ? Would we shut down at the first chance of streaming?

And if we make it a reality, would you like to join?

Sorry for the late reply anon, and thank you for your compliments. As for your question, copyright isn't much of an issue, as long as you're not screening anything recent, or making it very apparent to what you're doing. I believe they mentioned somewhere that they don't moderate, so they rely on reports. Don't bother using their chat, cytube will be better for that purpose.

If & when /argentina/ has the movie night, I'll gladly attend if it fits into my schedule.

Whoever invited /v/ to the cytube channel needs to be banned along with everyone who came from there. Meta bitching, unrelated pornographic content and a reduction in chat quality are all to blame. It's even at the point where that Ridley faggot was accusing members of doing shit he hadn't done because he didn't even know the feature existed. /bmn/ is not /v/ and if the chat becomes /v/ then you will lose the people who come for the bad movies.

No one wants to deal with /v/ who isn't also from /v/. It's a board full of idiots that drag everything down to shit posting. Bad movies are high risk content to begin with, one really bad movie and you will tank viewers for the night. Making chat unreadable makes that even more likely since you won't have chat to hold them there.

I'd rather not use a service that has obnoxious pre-roll ads, which I believe are not able to be turned off. If a viewer has a spot of shitty reliability with the service, they waste another 10-30 seconds on another shite ad. Before Vaughn, Ustream was the service used for BMN, and this issue cropped up periodically, despite no monetization settings being enabled.

While I dislike Vaughn's spotty reliability, its ads are not as annoying to deal with.

My apologies for the massively late reply.

The efficient Jack and his assistant Ty find a colony of mutant rats and try to convince the health department administrator and former partner of Jack, Ray Jarrett, how serious the infestation is. More horror shit please goy.

Bad action movies are unwatchable, it's just 90 minutes of talking once you get past the opening and maybe some car chases. Bad horror is much more likely to become funny or at least have some dumb kills to spice things up.

More dumb family movies and puppets work too. Chucky Cheese and the whores worked well. Same for Dino city. Weird puppetry is a good place to go. Maybe that Ghoopi 'the black fake jew' goldberg's dino movie is worth playing? Rescue/superhero dogs are a good bet too if you want to do some more family stuff like Ronald McDonald and the midget in a dog suit.

I have included some tiddies so you take my suggestions more seriously.

Yes.

>>1282

Sure. Assuming you have already signed up on Vaughn, Find your way to the settings page through the dropdown menu on the top right.

1. Click "Channel". Yes, it looks like a section header, but it's a settings page.

2. Scroll down until you find the video embed code, select all and copy.

3. In Cytube, press the third button (four squares) for custom embeds. Paste the code here.

And there you go. Word of warning: if this is your first rodeo with Vaughn, their stability is consistently alright, until peak hours. Then, it's a tossup. Sometimes I wonder if crap stability during peak is a intentional flaw, to get VIP bux. Although the service is notably lax in moderation. So Pros and Cons.

Hey, BMN, I need help finding a movie that you streamed a few years ago. It was an African movie, and I think it was about teleporting lawyers who can fire kamehamehas or something. I don't know for sure, because I think I only caught the last 20 minutes or so. The only other things I can remember were that there were some women in a jail cell with graffiti about being raped on one of the walls, and that the soundtrack had only two songs that the movie switched back and forth from. Please let me know if you can find it.
