Recently bought a condo as I got tired of landlords. I was thinking one way I could pay it off sooner is convert my living room into an airbnb room. Planning and zoning seem on board, still need to get the details on the permit as the permit people said to talk to planning. Regardless I also want to buy property abroad as an escape hatch from the rotting US and as a place to stay as well as rent out as an airbnb, so there are a few reasons I am interested in this topic. Does anyone have experience with this?

Don't rent to poor browns or people with kids, they will absolutely destroy your property in ways you can't imagine.
One horror story was a familys toddlers shoved used diapers into a hole in the wall that the doorknob had caused (because they had removed the stopper for some reason) then covered it up with furniture until they left. Another is the family cracked the toilet and then refused to pay for it to be fixed until courts had to get involved.
Renting is hell, beware.
