is there any argument for polytheism? there's entire volumes written on arguments for a diety, but all of them point to a monotheism.

It would go something like

[insert argument for 1 god here] therefore there is one god

nothing in nature is unique or singular

therefore there is more then one god.

Pretty much this. "Entire volumes written on arguments for a deity" is all well and good, but they all come from a culture that already believes there is one god; the source is biased. You can't objectively prove the existence of a higher power/powers.

A rather simple argument would be to ask why a single god would bother to make all of the world's different cultures, but only let one of them know he was real. Why does that make any sense? It's a pretty big dick move tbh, letting all those other millions of people die and "go to hell :DD" because you didn't tell them the rules of the game.

Our world and our species is fractured and tribal; each culture has its own practices and customs, and that's absolutely fine; I couldn't care less what stick-shaking Abbos get up to because all that matters to me are the practices and gods of my people. The problem with Christians, Jews, and Muslims is that they see this as a fundamentally bad thing.

Christian here, and I'm working against myself on this one:

our arguments for a monotheistic god can be applied to the Germanic heathen's concept of wyrd, which is technically the same thing as a classical theist god, but without the will we ascribe to it.

In all that you see in this world, there seems to be good/bad, male/feminine, light/dark, etc, some kind of duality. It makes just as much sense to be a polytheist as a monotheist, not that I believe in either.

marcus aurelius in his meditations makes pretty good arguments for the existence of both pagan gods and a pantheist sorta god. hes a filthy roman though

hermes trismegustus also was probably the last great pagan philosopher and alot of his works makes good arguments against monotheism

Jews are quite uninterested in converting gentiles to their cult, so actually you are quite close to their perspective.

The Christian view is arguably a natural outgrowth of the heights of pagan philosophy. Someone who genuinely believes in The Good and isn't just a sentimental tribalist will recognize that not all beliefs and cultures can be created equal and some can indeed be "enriched".

I'm not saying that all cultures are "equal"; but I sure as hell don't see why it's necessary to "enrich"/"go forth and preach the Gospel" to people living in mud huts. I have more important things in my own tribe to worry about than someone else's; it's only when their shitty culture impacts my own that I take interest. I don't give a fuck about Muslims and them killing each other until they start rapefugee-ing and attacking my country.

>The Christian view is arguably a natural outgrowth of the heights of pagan philosophy.

lolwut? Explain please.

aristotle's "prime mover" argument actually started as a Prime Movers argument, where all universes/cosmos are caused by uncaused "prime movers" that are immaterial and god-like. But since we only know our universe exists then we can only assume that at least one prime mover exists.
