Praying to the gods for gifts/favors like christcucks do is wrong in my view. Therefore to ask if it 'works' is to form the question incorrectly. You should pray in order to gain a spiritual connection with them. And by 'pray,' it really means just talk to them. Prayer will then work in drawing you closer to them and spiritually empowering you.

Pagans can't be weak or fat. It dishonors yourself, your ancestors, and your gods. I was a fat motherfucker when I started down the road of paganism. It was awkward at first but the transformation that occurred was actual fucking magic. The most important thing was I gained an upwelling of energy I had never experienced before in my life that enabled me to start making changes to my life I couldn't have before. This ties back into the previous thing about prayer. Don't pray for gifts, but if you achieve a spiritual awakening through prayer, gifts will come to you on their own. Awaken the spirits of your ancestors inside you and their fire will fuel you onwards and your patron deity will be the engine directing your course. You really have to experience it to know.

My only problem with nazism is that it puts the state above the folk. It gives lip service to folk, but in the end it will sacrifice them for the benefit of the state. I would not want to live under a national socialist state as practiced by Hitler because I don't believe our people are meant to live with an authoritarian boot on their necks. That said, white nationalism is very compatible (and mandatory) for asatru, and socialism works well in a homogenous society where no group is allowed to parasitize another. Out of the 20th century ideologies it is among the best fits, but has a lot of room for improvement to be truly folkish.

Under German national socialism, quality of life for Germans was (up until the war) likely the highest in all of mankind's history, their freedoms were greatly expanded, and German birthrates skyrocketed (i'm sure any one of us can appreciate that in these times). German tradition flourished and the German people and youth were healthier and more intelligent than ever. Degeneracy (Berlin was, during the Weimar years, one of the seediest places in the world due to the large number of jewish-owned 'entertainment' establishments) and jewish pervasiveness was almost totally removed from society. It was a clean, wholesome, happy, fullfilling, life surrounded by your people and your people only.

Does the above apply to non-Germans/Germanics? No, of course not. That's not nationalism. They might have had it bad, and they rightfully should have had it bad. Just as well, at the end of the day, you can only accomplish a lot of these things through A.) Revolution or B.) state intervention. That's the price to pay.

Is German national socialism perfect through a heathen's lens? Probably not, no. I do think it's a unique model incomparable to any other in history and a shining bright example to build upon, the high water mark of European nationalism and traditionalism, and has probably done more than anything else to reinvigorate faith in the native European religions than anything else in our living history. Like all things, it can be built upon.

Anyhoo, getting this thread back on track:

Praying needs to be reinforced by sacrifice every so often (i.e. food and drink offerings, valuables, etc.) In Heathen society, gift giving was a sacred way of forming bonds between people, so it was between people and the gods and goddesses. Obviously you don't need to sacrifice everyday, but at least keep the holy tides in mind, in addition to nightly/daily prayers.

This is a very good view to have. While I'm very much against the christian "here's my wish list/help make my decisions for me pls" slave morality version of prayer I think there is nothing wrong with a day to day communion with the higher forces as a part of being in the whole of nature.

Obviously if you're going into a pitched battle for the fate of your people you'd ask any friend you could for help or guidance (man, god or other) but it should by no means be the focal point of what you engage in and it should only be after you've given that you should expect anything.

I also think it applies to more than just The Gods. Local spirits and entities (like ones ritual tree) are worth spending time getting to know, helping and feeding energy to as well.

Hitler was right to invade Poland for their atrocities against the german population.
