 No.2833

I'd like to have a thread about Heathen hairstyles. While it may seem a frivolous topic to some, I really enjoy the aesthetics of Heathenism and the Germanic traditions. I want to start incorporating them into my day-to-day life and what a person does with their hair says a lot about a person and varies greatly from culture to culture.
Anyway, I really like Ragnar's hairstyle because it is different from the plain, old long straight hair with beard look. Considering getting it in the future if I grow my hair out but my hair is much thinner so it may not work out. And Lagertha's style is beautiful for a woman's, a favorite of mine as well.
Post your favorite Heathen hairstyles, or your own if it applies!

From what we know, they were actually obsessed with their appearance, especially their hair. But I don't know of any specific hairstyles

On a side note, Ragnar's hair is god tier

You can never go wrong with the classic.

That doesn't surprise me too much seeing as how they bathed more often than any other Europeans at the time. And with all the elaborate braiding there was I can see the emphasis on hair.

Ragnar's is definitely god tier, though. Damn my thin hair.

For real, supposedly combs, braid-beads, ear-spoons for de-waxing and other appearance-enhancing things are common archaeological finds in Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon digs. Supposedly Scandinavian men sometimes filed horizontal lines into their teeth to make them look fierce/tough, but I doubt I'll be following suit any time soon.

Forgot to add, worthy of note regarding importance of nice-looking hair: Harald I of Norway, swore that until he united Norway as his Kingdom he would not cut or comb his hair and became known as Harald Tanglehair. Upon becoming the sole King of Norway, he finally tidied things up and took his new epithet, still used/known today, of Harald Fairhair.

I'll stick with the long hair and beard, myself.

But the short hair they show on "Vikings" was a legitimate Norse style, it was unique in that they shaved the back of the head bald, leaving hair only in the front.

Strange style, don't think I like the look of it myself, but legitimate.

I wish more women would braid their hair. Blonde hair together with braids are one of my greatest weaknesses.

 No.3605

I have long straight hair (as a guy) but im planning on cutting it soon.

if you wash your hair in lime (not the fruit) after a long time it turns into the consistency of horse hair

the Gaulish warriors lime-washed their hair and then combed it back from the forehead to the nape of the neck so that it looked like a horse's mane.

My buddy had that short, back of the head shaved hairstyle last year. Looked a little like pic related on him at first but he fixed it after a few days.

I have never found out how to do this, no guide has been helpful, either

Apparently there was no such thing as "the" knot, as the more "higher" (I don't know an fitting English word) had the more elaborate knots.
They all were on the side and upwards though, so you probably just want to go for that. Or you could just get a nice haircut.

>Get a nice haircut

Whats the fun in that? Also by the way I just cut my hair like ragnar's in the show except the top of my hair is not too long probably about 4-5 inches) but it looks good. Cannot post a pic because do not own a camera phone (I do not care much for smartphones so I just have an ancient cell phone). Will perhaps post a pic when someone decides to take a picture of me next (this is how all my photos get taken. Selfies are for fags).

Nah it is really wavy I should say. When my hair is short it looks straight but as it gets longer it tends to curl up at the ends.

General sculpting and maintenance shaving. Make sure it is even shave your neck (under your chin is alright but past that makes it look unkempt). Invest in a boar hair brush and just shampoo that shit or put oil whatever. I just shampoo mine.

 No.10107

> Heathen

Don't use this word. You're defining yourself in terms of Christianity.

Also, all those hairstyles look retarded. Long hair just gets in the way of work.

 No.10110

>>10107

>Heathen

What word to you prefer? Your objection is the reason we don't use "pagan", our ancestors at least called themselves people of the forest/heath on occasion.

I realise there isn't a good one as to our ancestors the thought of following foreign religions (that needed a name to describe their otherness) was unthinkably absurd, but we find ourselves in different times and need a denonym for ourselves.
