>" Let me tell you then why the Creator made this world of generation. He was good, and the good can never have any jealousy of anything. And being free from jealousy, he desired that all things should be as like himself as they could be. This is in the truest sense the origin of creation and of the world, as we shall do well in believing on the testimony of wise men: God desired that all things should be good and nothing bad, so far as this was attainable…For this reason, when he was framing the universe, he put intelligence in soul, and soul in body, that he might be the creator of a work which was by nature fairest and best. Wherefore, using the language of probability, we may say that the world became a living creature truly endowed with soul and intelligence by the providence of God. " — Plato

>“The soul in its nature loves God and longs to be at one with Him in the noble love of a daughter for a noble father; but coming to human birth and lured by the courtships of this sphere, she takes up with another love, a mortal, leaves her father and falls.” ― Plotinus

>“This All is universal power, of infinite extent and infinite in potency, a God so great that all his parts are infinite. Name any place, and he is already there.” – Plotinus

What's the germanic/norse equivalent to this sort of paganism? Thanks

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God" - Exodus 20:5

That's not paganism. That's monotheism/deism/pantheism/panentheism.

>what are metaphorical approximations??

"Many of the things relating to God, therefore, that are dimly understood cannot be put into fitting terms, but on things above us we cannot do else than express ourselves according to our limited capacity; as, for instance, when we speak of God we use the terms sleep, and wrath, and regardlessness, hands, too, and feet, and such like expressions….

..His anger and fury are His hatred of and aversion to all wickedness, for we, too, hate that which is contrary to our mind and become enraged thereat. His forgetfulness and sleep and slumbering are His delay in taking vengeance on His enemies and the postponement of the accustomed help to His own. And to put it shortly, all the statements made about God that imply body have some hidden meaning and teach us what is above us by means of something familiar to ourselves, with the exception of any statement concerning the bodily sojourn of the God-Word. For He for our safety took upon Himself the whole nature of man , the thinking spirit, the body, and all the properties of human nature, even the natural and blameless passions." St. John of Damascus

These quotes are not representation of Greek paganism. They're representation of philosophy of Plato and Plotinus.

Yes until they converted to Christianity.

That's what all high IQ Greeks sound like. Plato/socrates said prayers to Pan. Plotinus/Pythagoras and othwrs would worship the sun. But deep down their religion was much deeper and aimed at "the One".

Even materliasts like Epicurus were polytheists but also believed in a supreme, perfect God somewhere in the universe.

What does asatru amount to in comparison?

No gods represent the ONE, because no god is prima materia, the essence of reality, the ONE does not care or think, so he doesn't want good or bad, he simply creates. The ONE emanates and creates the gods, the world and everything. The ONE is perfect because he is complete, if he is complete, he does not change, perfectness is ALWAYS constant.
