Im new to Asatru and was wondering how you lot were planning to celebrate the solstice. I gather Baldur is of some particular significance on this day.

Pic is the view from a mountain trail I found recently

Don't know any other asatru in my area, so everything I do is solo.

Was up early to greet the dawn.

Spending the day with family, having good food and enjoying the day.

Will go over to my good friend's house this evening, give him a gift and raise a glass of mead with him. He's not Asatruar but that doesn't matter.

My day is similar.

Wake up early to greet the day.

Breakfast with my wife.

Go to work (I was able to get a half-day today)

Take a short hike (2 miles up, 2 miles down) to enjoy a bit of the day in nature.

Have a hearty meal with the wife.

Join a small group of friends (not asatruar) for a bonfire to close out the day.

I spent the day with my friends, enjoying their company. Then, after the sun went down, I went into the woods and performed a blot.

Things started to get surreal. As the ceremony progressed, heat lightning started to flash to the North, while the sky was clear and the moon hung large and yellow in the Southern sky. Around 11:45 PM, a very violent thunderstorm started up in my area, and ended at about 00:03 of the 21st.

Same guy,

The bonfire had mixed results. A friend invited a friend of his who is a "gender studies" major and obviously pozzed as fuck. His insistence on turning polite conversation to social justice really put everybody else off and the others seem to be slowly waking up.

Did you remain innawoods for the storm?

I should have, but shit got spoopy after I ended my blot so I walked back home and read the story of Baldr. The storm happened then.

>Packed up a big bag full of all sorts of camping stuff, basically like backpacking but amateur

>Walk like 10 miles to a big forest from my house

>Get there, make a fire, be comfy, roast some soup over the fire

>Sunbath naked

>Made a liferune out of sticks and offered it

>Returned the contents of my offering bowl at my altar to the earth at the life rune

>Got out a ton of my blankets I packed, listened to the Silmarillion audiobook and dozed off at around 3 pm

>Wake up at around 3 am, still listening to silmarillion, chilling

>Restart fire, cook some more soup with crackers

>Go home

Pretty comfy
