How relevant are runes, really?

What is the significance in every day life though?

Are we really meant to use them as a divination tool? Or was it mainly just a writing system?

according to tacitus our ancestors used them for divination mainly.

That was mentioned one time, though. It's like saying modern americans use coins for divination because they flip them to make decisions sometimes.

Jesus christ do I have to post links to the rune poems every other month to remind you retards of their metaphyiscal meanings?

its not that hard to find

I want to learn more about the runes and practices relavent to them. I'm unsure whether I think that the Elder Futhark comprises the "real runes", or whether von List is right that the Elder Futhark is the result of the original runes being subjected to changes for purely linguistic use and that his Armanen Futharkh is the re-discovered set of "original runes" (or, perhaps, whether any runic alphabet "works").

I've yet to watch this video myself, so half to remind me to watch it and half for whatever good information it might hold:

Anyway, from my own knowledge so far, for >>10791

The runes were used for divination but also for other magical practices. Inscribing runes into arms and armour was used to bring good luck in battle. I know some say that the runes were involved in galdr and from that I've developed some pet hypothesis that there might have been a runic magical practice similar to chaos sigil magic of today's occult.

Can confirm, that video is worth watching. Paul lays down some good info.
