I can definitely agree with that.

In addition to degenerates recognizing their own kind, and Wicca treating all religions of the world like an all you can eat buffet that they can mix and match from, there are two more factors at play:

1. To my knowledge, there is no other deity/character quite like Loki who embodies the unique combination of "degenerate douche bag that other degenerates can relate to" and "can be rationalized into being a misunderstood good guy." For awhile, even in academic circles, one of the major theories about the nature of Loki was that he was a "God of Mischief"/"Agent of Chaos and Change"/"Necessary Evil Embodied"/"The Shit Stirrer" and so on and so forth. Lokeans cling to this concept with all of their might.

2. This factor will also help partially explain the rationale behind Jotunn worship. You see, while this…

…is mostly true, it's technically not 100% true. Check out "Elves, Wights and Trolls" in the "Lore of the Minor Deities" folder in the pdf archive, and you will find that there are a variety of Utgard beings (Jotuns, Etins, Thurses, etc.)

While sometimes these terms are often times used interchangeably, there was actually a distinction between beings that were just stupid, mindless engines of destruction, and those that were simply gods and goddesses who were outside of the tribes of Aesir/Vanir, and had a either a hostile, neutral or ambivalent attitude towards mankind.

For example: Skathi, and Aegir were both initially categorized as Jotunns, before apparently allying themselves with the Aesir and Vanir, and thus coming to be worshiped as gods and goddesses themselves. There is also the tale of Freyr wooing Gerd, who herself was categorized initially as a Jotunn.

Lokeans, being idiots with no nuance, of course glomp onto this concept and use it to rationalize worshiping the likes of Surtr and the Fenris fucking Wolf.
