 No.118396

A thread for posting and/or discussing early and pre-90s Japanese idols. They don't have to have sung an OP or whatever, but it's preferable.

Here's Yuki Saito, one of my favourites. She sung the OP/ED for Les Miserables: Shoujo Cosette, ED for Hyouge Mono and she did an OP for Maison Ikkoku (+music for the OVAs/Special).

Basically, just post cute Jap girls singing and dancing.

Also, here's Yuki Saito singing the ED for Les Miserables. Showa idols are great and you're missing out.

It is good, but be warned that it's 52 episodes if you're not into longer anime.

Yuki Saito's voice really makes for a great opening.

Yuiki Saito is also known for Sukeban Deka.

I prefer Sukeban Deka II tho, with Yoko Minamino as the protagonist along with two other qts, Haruko Sagara and Akie Yoshizawa.

Yoko Minamino is really good to watch acting or performing as a singer. She has a gorgeous smile and makes adorable faces.

Anyway, if you like Yuki, op, you definetly should check out Sukeban Deka if you haven't.

I've never come to the stream, but i'd rewatch it. The World Masterpiece Theater series of shows is good in general.

>>118504

It's been on my watch list for a while, I have S1+2 downloaded already. Yoko Minamino and Akie Yoshizawa are cute, not sure how I haven't heard of them. I definitely like Yuki; i'll never get tired of looking at videos of her and Megumi Asaoka. Listened to both of their discographies multiple times. I barely watch anime these days, let alone live-action, so it'll probably take me a while to complete Sukeban Deka (it's already been on my watch list for years). Are there any other idols you like?

>Are there any other idols you like?

Just the Babymetal girls, my fave being Yui Mizuno.

I really don't know much about idol stuff, I've started to get into it more these days because I been lurking youtube a whole bunch while watching Sukeban Deka. I found out about Onyanko Club, and it seems like it's my kind of thing. Made an account on the tracker aidoru, do you have any recommendations of something on that site or another? I think we may have similar taste, I like older stuff like from the 80s but what sucks is that a lot of that material is in low quality video.

Babymetal isn't a bad starting point, but i'm not a fan of their newer stuff. It's unfortunate that their great guitarist, Mikio Fujioka (Ko-Gami), died young.

If you like Babymetal, you'll probably enjoy the group NECRONOMIDOL. I don't like the new members though. I'll upload a webm of one of their videos in the next post due to total file-size constraints. I don't think you'll find anything above 480p on youtube. I guess they didn't bother to buy good cameras to film idols back then, plus it seems nip producers are lazy in re-releasing content in their original glory. Faggots. All of the 1080p stuff on youtube is just upscaled and looks blurry. I got hooked on older idols because I stumbled upon Yuki, Megumi and Candies, and then youtube recommendations lead me down a rabbit hole. You'll have better luck getting good recs if you click on the videos with Japanese titles. Finding neat little idol channels from dedicated nips is always nice.

As for Aidoru, I really don't know. I signed up once to see if they have bestu aidoru Megumi Asaoka videos, but stopped using it 5 minutes later because there are none at all. I checked again just now and still nothing. I know she was popular back then, but she is only popular with nips on youtube now... Why is God so cruel... Why? If I find an idol I like, I just download their music from Jpopsuki, RED or Animebytes. They never upload Megumi Asaoka though. Never ever. A new tracker for jap shit opened recently called 'Sugoi' or something, but it's reddit, so obviously she won't be there. Avoid like the plague. Reddit JPS with no content. A while ago some cool Russian on Rutracker uploaded a collection of her CDs that you can buy though, it includes music from 1972-1977 (I think '77 is where she had a temporary retirement, but she released more a few years later). Disgusting mp3 though. She recently sung Watashi no Kare wa Hidarikiki AKA My Boyfriend is a Lefty on TV Tokyo and there's an upload of that on JPS, but she is also old and flabby now. The voice is still there however, along with the nostalgia. Her nose is as Japanese as ever. I still need to track down her swimsuit photo set from back in the day, but i've been too lazy. I'm pretty sure she went pretty much nude once, but maybe that was somebody else. Fun fact, Megumi's real name is Kayoko Fujii. Apologies for my Megumi Autism™. The 70 and 80s were truly a great time for idols.

Here's a couple of Nana Okada webms. She isn't as cute as Megumi or Yuki in my opinion, but her music is nice. One of the webms is her singing 'Seishun no Sakamichi' which I believe was a hit song upon its release. The other song I have forgotten the English name of, so it has a Japanese title in the video. Her music should very likely be on JPS, but I don't remember I got them from. Autism™ Autism™ Autism™ Autism™ Autism™ Autism™

I watched everything the site would let me. Aren't they all just kind of dull? The dancing is almost nonexistant, the songs are kind of BORING, they aren't very pretty, and you'd have to be a really special kind of person to feel the energy and happy from them I don't get it

All I can say is that we simply have a difference of opinion. I am a big fan of 80s Japanese pop, as are many other people. I dislike 90% of the music from idol anime. We just have different tastes. I like to look at these idols sing these because their voices are nice, and I personally like their looks. It makes me feel habby.

In addition, I don't necessarily care about the videos. There are many, many idols that never had videos released, or had very few. The majority of my consumption is from purely listening to albums. Appearance comes second for me. I do like the idols posted above however. They were a hit back when they were singing. This thread isn't purely just about them dancing anyway, it's just what is here thus far. Regardless, there aren't many webms in this thread, I possibly chose bad videos for people not into idols and gave a bad perspective.

Not for you in particular, but here's an extra Yuki Saito webm that was too large to post previously. She's singing one of her more popular songs, 'Hatsukoi.'

tl;dr: don't care, gonna post idols anyway

Then what separates them from mere singers? They're suppose dto be idols. In the first place, there's gotta be something there for that. An "idol" that doesn't combine her singing with dancing, MCing, show events, etc etc doesn't seem any different from a regular old vocalist and unworthy of the name

I'd watch the webm but 8kun says no

>Babymetal isn't a bad starting point, but i'm not a fan of their newer stuff.

Same. Tbh, I didn't even bother checking their new album. I want kawaii metal, and I miss Yui-chan so much...

>If you like Babymetal, you'll probably enjoy the group NECRONOMIDOL

Meh. It's not bad, but after witnessing something as good as BM, Necronomidol feels like a downgrade.

It's sad that it's unlikely we'll ever see something like BM again.

>I don't think you'll find anything above 480p on youtube. I guess they didn't bother to buy good cameras to film idols back then, plus it seems nip producers are lazy in re-releasing content in their original glory.

It sucks about the quality, doesn't it. Such a shame.

>As for Aidoru, I really don't know. I signed up once to see if they have bestu aidoru Megumi Asaoka videos, but stopped using it 5 minutes later because there are none at all.

Yep, it isn't that great. The best thing I got was a 300gb torrent with a bunch of rare BM stuff, like tv appearances and interviews (but quite a lot of bloat of shitty live shows recorded with cellphones...). Besides that, not much was of my interest.

So Youtube is pretty much the place to go for videos,huh... I wonder if there's a super sekrit tracker out there with 1080p full shows of qt 80s idols. Do you know if the nips have trackers in japanese for this stuff? I don't know if they have much of a piracy culture. I get the feeling Japan's authorities must go hard on piracy. Plus they are very fond of physical media for what I understand (and that's a good thing for them, maybe not so good for us in the rest of the world).

>Here's a couple of Nana Okada webms. She isn't as cute as Megumi or Yuki in my opinion, but her music is nice

Nana looks cute. For looks, I guess I prefer nip gals with round faces. Idk why. But I'm a sucker for it. Akie

in these pics sure looks nice, while long hair is always better, she can definetly handle having it short.

So Megumi Asaoka is your fave idol, right? May I ask why, is it just the music, her personality, her looks?
